    Full Salary Range:

    Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience; the budget for the position; and the application of fair, equitable, and consistent pay practices at the University.

    The full salary range for this position is $88,225.26 to $149,422.71/yr. The budgeted salary range the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $97,411.71 to $114,102.75/yr.

    Brief Summary of Job Duties


    Under the direction of the Director or designee and with an in-depth understanding of the professional field, the Psychologist independently performs diagnosis and psychotherapy on a full range of cases.

    Provides individual therapy to assess the level of pathology and to determine appropriateness of a short-term therapeutic modality for students with serious psychological concerns.

    Assesses for suicidal ideation and provides appropriate crisis intervention services. Conducts culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions. May consult with senior specialist/manager on highly complex issues. Coordinate care with Student Health and provide on and off campus referrals as needed. Provide consultation to staff, faculty, and students as requested. Develop and deliver psychoeducational programs to address the cultural and mental health needs of underrepresented populations. Psychologist expected to participate in campus organizations which have a demonstrated commitment to diversity and cultural issues. Be able to approach clinical service provision from a cultural perspective. Provides clinical guidance and oversight to other professional staff. Train and supervise staff, interns, practicum students, or peers as appropriate.

    Maintain current license to practice psychology in the state of California and must continue to meet state requirements for license renewal.

    Flexible hours within a 40-hour workweek will be considered.

    Education


    • PhD or Psy.
    D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology from an APA accredited doctoral program - Required.

    Licensure Requirements


    • License to practice psychology in the State of California or eligible within 6 months - Required.

    • Thorough knowledge associated with providing evaluation, diagnosis and psychotherapy services.
    • Thorough knowledge of applicable laws and standards of professional conduct.
    • Thorough knowledge of diagnostic / psychological testing methodologies.
    • Highly effective written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Thorough skills associated with conducting complex diagnosis, problem-solving and critical-thinking.
    • Ability to work in a highly collaborative manner with diverse client group, members of the medical staff and faculty.
    • Ability to conduct complex analysis and develop and present recommendations and course of treatment.
    • Knowledge of electronic / medical records systems.
    • Demonstrated ability to provide culturally appropriate therapeutic interventions.
    • Computer literacy.
    Preferred Qualifications


    • Experience working in a university counseling center.
    • Demonstrated knowledge or experience providing counseling to communities with intersectional / interlocking identities.
    • Experience with crisis intervention and/or coordination.

    Job Functions/Percentage of Time/Duties


    • 60% Direct Service - Individual &

    Group Psychotherapy:

    Assess pathology of severe nature and determine the appropriateness of short-term therapeutic work for students with serious psychological concerns.

    Provide psychotherapy and crisis intervention services to students with problems of a particularly complex or threatening nature. Assess lethality of student threats of a suicidal or homicidal nature. Make appropriate referrals to Student Health psychiatry and/or facilitate off- campus hospitalization as needed. Provide follow-up services to callers who have utilized our after-hours phone crisis counseling program. Serve as crisis on-call staff weekly. Provide crisis back-up as needed. Includes evening and weekends.

    Provide psychological service for presenting concerns including but not limited to depression, anxiety, domestic violence, sexual abuse or rape, substance abuse, gender and multicultural concerns.

    Provide brief counseling and psychotherapy to students with other psychological concerns on an individual and group basis. Provide group psychotherapy on specific psychological crises. Provide appropriate referral to other campus services and/or off campus agencies. Provide advocacy for students as appropriate. Utilize psychodiagnostic assessment procedures and psychometric methods to facilitate psychotherapy as indicated.

    • 15 % Consultation and Outreach: Provide crisis intervention and postvention services to campus as needed in cases of suicide, deaths, or other tragedies as requested. Refer to and utilize the Distressed Student Protocol as necessary when assessing serious student threats. Provide consultation to staff, faculty, and parents seeking assistance with troubled students or those with serious mental health issues. Provide educational psychological programs, consultation, and mental health information for faculty, staff, students, and other campus groups. Provide psychoeducational seminars to staff or trainees. Provide training in counseling and referral skills as requested. In collaboration with other units, provide educational programming as requested. Develop liaisons to departments on campus. Serve on campus-wide committees or task forces.
    • 10 % Training and Supervision: Participate in weekly Clinical Consultation Team (CCT) for supervision and disposition of cases. Supervise the clinical work of trainees as needed. Supervise unlicensed clinical staff as required. Provide orientation workshops as requested.

    Professional Activities:
    Maintain current case records for each client seen or group conducted as mandated by law. Maintain current and updated knowledge of the laws and practices of psychology. Maintain current, valid license to practice psychology in the state of California. Participate in and attend continuing education seminars and professional development activities. Participate in staff/professional development activities and work collaboratively in task groups and teams (e.g. Pro D and retreats).

    May provide quarterly statistical reports. Engage in research, evaluation, or assessment projects as requested. Conduct special projects as requested or initiated. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
