Crane Operator

Job Summary

Operate hydraulic rough terrain cranes with a capacity of under 80 tons. As a crane operator, you will be responsible for lifting and moving materials, machines, or products in many directions.

Essential Duties

Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacity to prevent overload.
Move levers, depress foot pedals, or turn dials to operate cranes, or other moving equipment for lifting, moving, or placing loads.
Inspect and adjust crane mechanisms or lifting accessories to prevent malfunctions or damage.
Direct helpers engaged in placing blocking or outrigging under canes.
Maintain material moving equipment in good working condition.
Ensure loads are secured correctly before moving.
Review daily work or delivery schedules to determine orders, sequences of deliveries, or special loading instructions.
This position requires daily travel to various client worksites mostly within the State of Florida. 15% travel outside of Florida but within the United States. Frequent overnight travel.
Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Must have a NCCCO Certification.
The employee must be capable of performing skilled labor for up to 12 hours a day.
Must be dependable and operate with a high level of integrity.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and demanding environment.

This is a non-exempt position.
This position reports to a Superintendent.
This position typically has no direct reports.
This position is a safety sensitive in nature, which means employee performs duties so fraught with risks of injury to self or others, or environmental injury, that even a momentary lapse of concentration or attention can have disastrous consequences.

Physical Requirements / Working Environment

Location is at 2730 Mine and Mill Road, Lakeland, FL.
This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work vary (Monday Sunday with some overnight work) and overtime is frequently required.
Working environment is often in harsh elements (hot / humid and/or cold temperatures, rain, etc.) Industrial environments often have exposure to hazardous chemicals, moving heavy equipment, and other safety-sensitive hazards / risks. Must always be alert and able to safely perform the essential duties of the job without risking harm to oneself or others.
While performing the duties of this job, you will:
- Frequently use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, moving materials, and manipulating things.
