    Job Description

    Purpose

    Provide fabrication and teardown support to the organization, focusing specifically on engineering product development.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    • Manages the engineering lab environment and any offsite storage/engineering facilities using 5S methodology and processes.
    • Procures and maintains engineering lab equipment functionality, calibration schedules, and security.
    • Assists engineering in the teardown, inspection, and root cause of product issues.
    • Consult and collaborate with personnel in various engineering and design activities relative to prototype development and testing.
    • Creates development properties for engineering evaluation and testing.
    • Constructs fixtures, tests stands and miscellaneous loading hardware using common metal working equipment.
    • Performs test set-ups and programs electronic controls and software according to the test requirements
    • Conducts testing on materials, structures and components.
    • Observes and enforces all shop safety practices.
    • All other reasonable duties and responsibilities assigned as deemed necessary by Supervisor.
    • Ensure adherence to company, departmental and health and safety systems and policies to meet legislative requirements.
    • Supports Internal / External Audit efforts regarding ISO 9001:2015, IATF 16949 Certification for remote site location (Group Office).
    • May be required to work extra hours, various shifts and travel to meet company needs.
    • Able to travel at least 10%, including possible international travel

    Qualifications

    Required Education & Experience/Competencies

    • 3 years of related experience or equivalent.
    • Advanced skills related to steel component fabrication using common metal working tools including but limited to the lathe, mill, saws, drill press, GMAW welder, brake press, etc.
    • Familiarity with various testing methods and procedures (i.e. bolted joints, material testing, etc).
    • Ability to work in a shop environment at occasionally elevated noise levels.
    • Good verbal and written communication skills.
    • Good organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
    • Good computer proficiency.
    • Must be able to read, create, and comprehend engineering drawings and specifications.

    Supervisory Responsibility

    This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may be required to provide functional direction to various hourly resources.

    Work Environment

    While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works in an office setting and on the plant floor.
