- Suggests interventions to modify health risk behavior.
- Develops patient treatment plans based on assessments, evidence-based medicine, and care standards, in collaboration with physicians and team members when necessary.
- Evaluates care effectiveness and patient response.
- Provides medical counseling on processes, illness management, medication, nutrition, and health promotion.
- Advises on drug regimens, side effects, and interactions with other substances.
- Maintains detailed treatment records, initiates referrals when necessary.
- Provides specialty-related consultation services and invasive procedures as delegated.
- Can care for a patient panel in a team-based model focusing on acute and chronic illnesses, and population health.
- Knowledge of diagnosing and treating human injuries, diseases, and deformities.
- Understanding of diagnosis, treatment methods for dysfunctions.
- Effective verbal and written communication.
- Strong interpersonal, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in computer applications.
- Ability to develop and implement patient treatment plans.
- Capability to counsel patients on conditions, treatment plans, and behavior modification.
- Interpretation and evaluation skills for diagnostic tests.
- Valid Texas Physician Assistant license.
- Basic Life Support certification within 30 days of hire.

JOB SUMMARY
The Physician Assistant (PA) Primary Care is a licensed, certified, non-physician healthcare provider who effectively renders direct patient care, possessing delegated prescriptive authority, credentialed and privileged. Services are billed independently, recognized by Medicare and Medicaid, within healthcare systems and in line with the appropriate board. The Advanced Practice Provider offers medical care based on the practice scope supervised by physicians.
These providers usually care for patients in internal medicine, family medicine, geriatric, or pediatric clinics.
