    Responsibilities

    This position performs EH&S Specialist responsibilties at the Berry Global, Inc. facility in Evansville, IN.

    The individual will assist in the completion of all activities relating to all regulatory agencies (OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc), security, workers compensation and property/casualty insurance matter.


    • Implement safety programs, policies and procedure to ensure compliance.
    • Address any unsafe or at-risk behaviors/conditions immediately in a professional manner to ensure the safety and health of anyone on-site.
    • Identify hazardous conditions/actions within the plant and recommend corrective measures.
    • Investigate all incidents and property losses, following internal reporting procedures and systems (Global Data Center).
    • Support trainer in delivering all required safety and environmental training.
    • Assist in selecting and purchasing appropriate personal protective equipment.
    • Support in inspections for federal, state, and local environmental permits to ensure compliance.
    • Assist inspection personnel from insurance carriers, OSHA, EPA, DOT, etc.
    • Provide EH&S topics and training material to leadership team to be reviewed daily/weekly.
    • File and maintain MSDS on environmental compliance platform (Cornerstone).
    • Manage the contractor Safety program and ensure compliance.
    • Complete First Alerts and Incident Reports for divisional and executive reviews.
    • Coordinate with departments to conduct MOC's on new equipment
    • Act as the EHS focal/SME for all PIT incident investigations, while displaying the most ethical, professional behaviors and acting with integrity.
    • Lead and assist in the development of NRTHA, Risk Assessment, and LOTO Isolation Guides.
    • Perform any other duties established by the EH&S Manager or Corporate EH&S Department.
    Qualifications


    • Bachelor's Degree in Safety or Environmental discipline.
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
    • Minimum one to three years of safety experience in a manufacturing environment.
    • Strong organizational skills with a proven ability to complete multiple tasks simultaneously.
    • Extensive knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other government regulations.
    • Experience/Training may be considered in lieu of degree.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience, with EHS as primary role responsibility;
    • Associate Degree in EHS and/or OHST/CIT certifications
