Responsibilities will also include sustainment of Sea-Bird's existing product portfolio addressing capability/feature enhancement and quality improvement. This position is part of the R&D Engineering group within Seabird and will be located in Bellevue, WA. At Sea-Bird, we strive to provide best-of-class sensors and systems for oceanographic research and environmental water quality monitoring.The Engineering team plays an important role in bringing innovative ideas to the market through design, prototype build and validation.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:About the Role:
Designs and analyzes mechanical systems, equipment and packaging. Conducts feasibility studies and testing on new and modified designs. Directs support personnel in the preparation of detailed design, design testing and prototype fabrication. Provides design information to drafting for packaging documentation. Jobs that provide engineering technical support in this field should be assigned to this job family.

BS in Mechanical Engineering (MSME preferred) 4+ yrs. experience (2+ yrs. for MSME) in electro-mechanical product designHigh proficiency with 3D parametric CAD software & vault data management (SolidWorks preferred)
Experience in prototyping, testing, and evaluating mechanical designs including the ability to work with the operations team and suppliers to optimize for manufacturabilityAble to design for and select against multiple manufacturing methods, including precision machining, sheet metal design, die-casting, and injection moldingIt would be a plus if you also possess previous experience in:
