Overview:
Under supervision or in collaboration with practice physicians, involved in the care of individuals, families and patient groups who are dealing with cancer or other related diagnosis.
Responsibilities:
Assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates care for patients.
Initiates and documents appropriate interventions; evaluates and records patient/family response and prescribes therapies as indicated. - Performs procedures with minimal supervision.
Assesses patient/family needs and provides education.
Promotes wellness and recommends community resources to meet patient and family needs.
Often incorporates evidence-based research into clinical practice.
Solid knowledge of reimbursement procedures and documentation requirements.
Completes patient charge capture and medical record documentation in a timely fashion.
Likely to provide case management for patients and their families.
Sometimes serves as a resource for nursing staff by providing information being studied in clinical trials.
May provide palliative care for the patient and their families as needed.
May promote/provide staff education
Responsibilities may include rounding at affiliated hospitals, weekend or after-hour calls
May mentor new advanced practice providers
May precept APP students
Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Nurse Practitioner Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Nurse Practitioner program.
This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Nurse Practitioner, preferably in the chosen specialty.
RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner. AOCNP preferred. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required. OR Physician Assistant Successful completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. Current NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) certification.This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of experience as a practicing Physician Assistant, preferably in the chosen specialty.
Current state license as a Physician Assistant in practicing state. Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.OR Clinical Nurse Specialist Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and successful completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program.
This position typically requires a minimum of 3 years of practicing Clinical Nurse Specialist, preferably in the chosen specialty. RN state licensure and current registration with the State Board of Nursing in practicing state. Current state licensure as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. AOCNS preferred (if applicable). Current basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
