Transportation Design Engineering Manager - Herndon, United States - ATCS, P.L.C.

ATCS is seeking an energetic, highly motivated, detail-oriented, self-starter to join our team in our Herndon, VA office location as a Transportation Engineering Manager.

The organization provides a hybrid work environment with a few days per week required onsite in the Herndon office.

This is an exciting opportunity to support and shape our roadway design services group in Virginia. The individual will perform a variety of engineering tasks relative to VDOT and various municipal roadway design projects. The diversity of responsibilities requires a flexible mindset and cooperative team-oriented attitude with progressively increasing management capabilities.


Duties and Responsibilities:
Daily responsibilities will include project design, task management, client contact, and quality control.
Task management and development of roadway construction documents, specifically roadway plans, profiles, typical sections, maintenance of traffic plans, cost estimating and planning
Preparing reports and studies
Preparing for, attending, and participating in public meetings
Directing others in performing designs for various transportation infrastructure projects based on AASHTO, VDOT and local municipality requirements; reviewing and managing designs prepared by others
Participating in project/contracting scoping, fee development, contract negotiations, and execution
Coordinating with contractors, utility companies and government agencies

Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering
Minimum of 8 years of experience in roadway/transportation design - preferably in Virginia
Professional Engineer's license in VA is preferred, will consider other states with the commitment of obtaining a Virginia PE within 6 months of starting employment
Bentley MicroStation and OpenRoads Designer experience
Familiarity with AASHTO, VDOT and regional design standards, practices and policies

Demonstrated track record of managing workload and deadlines, balancing tasks, consistently and reliably delivering on commitments, and communicating and collaborating with others to deliver high quality results.

Experience with multimodal transportation planning and design is a plus (i.e., bicycle, pedestrian, transit)
