    Duties
    • OPNAV N98: Pentagon assignment serving as the Science and Technology Coordinator supporting the Director, Air Warfare in Arlington, VA.
    • The Science and Technology Coordinator provides analysis using research tools, economics, and other quantitative techniques in the areas of procedural implementations and performance issues.
    • Specific duties include support of all pre-Milestone A activities to include studies, Science and Technology, and Requirements definition.
    • The coordinator will collaborate with Naval Aviation Enterprise stakeholders to facilitate working relationships.
    • OPNAV N2/N6: Pentagon assignment in support of N2/N6, the Navy's primary office for resourcing such capabilities as intelligence, cyber warfare, command and control, electronic warfare, battle management, oceanography and meteorology.
    • ONR Code 31:? Assignment with the Office of Naval Research in support of Code 31.
    • Code 31 supports research in Mathematics, Electronics, Computer and Information Sciences and their applications in Command and Control, Communications, Cyber, Electronic Warfare, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance.
    • Air Force Armament Directorate (AFLCMC/EB):? Eglin AFB assignment serving as an assistant Navy Research and Development coordinator to the Branch Chief.
    • The coordinator works for the Disruptive Futures Division providing insight into current NAWCWD weapons system technologies, technological and manufacturing readiness, and applicability to specific missions of interest to the Armament Directorate.
    • Specific duties include routine updates to the Branch Chief on development timelines, demonstration events, cooperative development opportunities and potential project planning.

      • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.

        Qualifications

        In addition to the basic education requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the DP-04 pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate some or all of the following: 1) Providing support for the execution of the processes behind Navy Science & Technology Investments; 2) Providing quantitative analysis using research tools, economics, and other quantitative techniques in the areas of procedural implementations and performance issues; 3) Supporting the development of Science & Technology roadmaps and concept developments for current and future Programs of Record; 4) Providing Science & Technology inputs and /or recommendations, and familiarity with Science & Technology products and processes; 5) Subject matter expertise in one or more area of technology as demonstrated by leadership of or participation in a basic research, applied research or advanced technology effort.

        Education

        Applicants must meet the following basic education requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual:

        0801 :
        Successful completion of a professional engineering degree. To be acceptable, the program must: (1) lead to a bachelor's degree (or higher) in a school of engineering with at least one program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET); or (2) include differential and integral calculus and courses (more advanced than first-year physics and chemistry) in five of the following seven areas of engineering science or physics: (a) statics, dynamics; (b) strength of materials (stress-strain relationships); (c) fluid mechanics, hydraulics; (d) thermodynamics; (e) electrical fields and circuits; (f) nature and properties of materials (relating particle and aggregate structure to properties); and (g) any other comparable area of fundamental engineering science or physics, such as optics, heat transfer, soil mechanics, or electronics. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.

        Current registration as an Engineer Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or licensure as a Professional Engineer (PE) by any State, the District of Columbia, Guam, or Puerto Rico.         Evidence of having successfully passed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) examination or any other written test required for professional registration by an engineering licensure board in the various States, the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico The FE examination is not administered by the U.         Successful completion of at least 60 semester hours of courses in the physical, mathematical, and engineering sciences and in engineering that included the courses specified in the basic requirements under paragraph A (above). The courses must be fully acceptable toward meeting the requirements of an engineering program as described in paragraph A (above)

        OR

        Successful completion of a curriculum leading to a bachelor's degree in an appropriate scientific field, e.g., engineering technology, physics, chemistry, architecture, computer science, mathematics, hydrology, or geology, may be accepted in lieu of a bachelor's degree in engineering, provided the applicant has had at least one year of professional engineering experience acquired under professional engineering supervision and guidance. Ordinarily, there should be either an established plan of intensive training to develop professional engineering competence, or several years of prior professional engineering-type experience, e.g., in interdisciplinary positions.

        Degree: physics; or related degree that included at least 24 semester hours in physics.
        or
        Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in physics totaling at least 24 semester hours, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
        In either A or B above, the courses must have included a fundamental course in general physics and, in addition, courses in any two of the following: electricity and magnetism, heat, light, mechanics, modern physics, and sound.
        1515:
        Degree: in operations research; or at least 24 semester hours in a combination of operations research, mathematics, probability, statistics, mathematical logic, science, or subject-matter courses requiring substantial competence in college-level mathematics or statistics. At least 3 of the 24 semester hours must have been in calculus.

        1520: Degree: mathematics; or the equivalent of a major that included at least 24 semester hours in mathematics.
        or
        Combination of education and experience -- courses equivalent to a major in mathematics (including at least 24 semester hours in mathematics), as shown in A above, plus appropriate experience or additional education.
        The total course work in either A or B above must have included differential and integral calculus and, in addition, four advanced mathematics courses requiring calculus or equivalent mathematics courses as a prerequisite.
        1550:
        Bachelor's degree in computer science or bachelor's degree with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. All academic degrees and course work must be from accredited or pre-accredited institutions.
