Schedule
Shifts: Straight Nights, 7 PM - 7:30 AM, Every Other Weekend and Holiday, On Call per Unit Needs
Job Description
The Registered Nurse in the General Observation unit plays a critical role in monitoring patient conditions and assisting in the early detection of health issues. This unit often houses patients who are admitted from the Emergency Department. Nurses will work closely with the medical team to provide patient care and ensure effective communication regarding patient health statuses.
Responsibilities
- Continuously monitor vital signs and assess patients' overall physical condition.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, while providing basic patient care.
- Communicate effectively with medical team members regarding patient care plans and progress.
- Recognize and respond to changes in patient conditions that may require urgent care.
- Adhere to infection control policies and ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with healthcare regulations.
Required Experience / Certifications / Licensure
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a general medical-surgical unit or similar nursing field.
- Current license by the Ohio State Board of Nursing.
- BLS certification required.
