Position OverviewNavistar has an exciting new opportunity for an Electric Vehicle and Diesel Technician to join our team at our Field Test site in Commerce City, Colorado near Denver.
The EV and Diesel Technician will service and repair complex mechanical or electronical systems of vehicles and lend support with in-test inspections, diagnose, and perform standard mechanical and electrical vehicle repairs.
The Technician will help support Navistar's Research and Development group on 1st shift.Navistar is a leading global manufacturer of trucks and buses and member of the Traton Group.

ResponsibilitiesDiagnoses mechanical, hardware, software and systems failures and electrical troubleshooting using established proceduresPerforms maintenance, testing and calibration of repaired productsPrepares reports for analysis of product failure trends and service ability issuesMay communicate with field-based technicians for details helpful to failure diagnostics or repair, but generally without direct client contactRepair and/or replace all components of diesel engines, hydraulic, air conditioning, electrical, and suspension systems, drive trains, steering, braking, material handling, and operator comfort systemsRead, analyze, and interpret technical information from schematics, technical manuals, drawings and procedures, and governmental regulations Minimum RequirementsAssociate's degreeAt least 3 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experienceORAt least 5 years of experience supporting engineering activities and/or automotive or diesel mechanic experience Additional RequirementsQualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States.
Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)Desired SkillsPrevious mechanic experience involving commercial truck and engine assembly, repair, and fabricationStrong mechanical aptitude and diagnostics backgroundVehicle experience that includes some of the following:
commercial vehicles, off-highway vehicles, or agriculture vehiclesExperience with alternative fuels, including EV (electric vehicles), and/or PropaneExperience with Cummins/Allison/Eaton/DuramaxTraining/Education as a Truck mechanic, and as a Diesel Engine mechanicExperience with welding fabrication with Tig, Mig, Stick, Oxy-Acetylene Welding skills & plasma cuttingKnowledge of multimeter and/or module programming, standard electronic diagnostics equipmentPrior dealership or fleet service experienceBasic knowledge of Microsoft Office
