    Advanced Nurse Practitioner (APRN)

    Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week
    Schedule: Monday – Friday | 1st Shift
    Pay Rate: $75–$85/hour (commensurate with experience)

    Position Overview

    Within a state agency health care delivery system, the Advanced Nurse Practitioner (APRN) provides independent, advanced clinical care to assess, diagnose, and manage individuals' health conditions while promoting overall wellness. This role carries a high level of clinical autonomy, including prescriptive authority, and provides consultation services to enhance patient care and support system-level improvements.

    This advanced professional nursing position plays a critical role across multiple state agencies, delivering both medical and psychiatric services in complex clinical environments.

    Job Class Use

    This position may be utilized in the following agencies:

    Departments of Children and Families and Mental Health and Addiction Services

    • Provide medical and/or psychiatric consultation and collaboration to clinical and direct care staff.

    Departments of Correction, Mental Health and Addiction Services, and Veterans Affairs

    • Perform clinical assessments, diagnoses, and medication management for individuals with medical and/or mental health conditions.

    Supervision

    Supervision Received:

    • Works under limited supervision of a physician, administrator, or higher-level professional.

    Supervision Exercised:

    • Provides clinical leadership and supervision to members of the health care team.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Provide comprehensive advanced nursing care, including assessments, diagnosis, treatment, and health maintenance

    • Order, analyze, and interpret diagnostic studies

    • Prescribe medications, monitor patient response, and adjust treatment plans

    • Lead cardiac arrest codes and document medical and/or psychiatric care

    • Deliver specialized care for acute and chronic medical and psychiatric conditions

    • Provide individual psychotherapy

    • Educate individuals and families on diagnoses and treatment plans

    • Assess the effectiveness of medical and psychiatric services

    • Consult with clinical staff on assessment and treatment strategies

    • Assist in determining the need for contracted health services

    • Provide guidance on health record documentation

    • Serve as liaison between agency and community health care providers

    • Prepare reports related to health services, investigations, and outcomes

    • Participate in quality assurance initiatives, clinical committees, and multidisciplinary teams

    • Provide staff training and professional development as needed

    • Conduct home safety assessments when required

    • Participate in abuse or neglect investigations and provide court testimony as needed

    • Oversee agency clinic services when assigned
