    STAFF ENGINEER
    – Full Time position with benefits. Salary negotiable. Under direct supervision, in one or more areas of engineering, performs field and office engineering work involved in the design, permitting, maintenance and construction of structures and/or systems, and other related duties. This is a mid-level professional position requiring extensive engineering knowledge. Routine work is self-directed. All other work is performed under the direction of the Township Engineer.

    Job Duties / Responsibilities:


    Performs field and office engineering work involved in the design, permitting, maintenance, and construction of roads, streets, water, sanitary sewer and stormwater systems, public grounds, water and supply systems.

    Performs calculations.
    Prepares graphs, tables, and curves.
    Records data of tests and visual observations.
    Reviews and compiles information from technical engineering manuals and reports.
    Prepares layout and detail drawings on routine projects from specific instructions, notes, or sketches.
    Reviews requisitions for equipment, materials, and supplies; monitors expenses
    Review permit applications from land use boards, site plans, subdivision plans, stormwater calculations, and grading plans for compliance with Township Code, state regulations, standards, and engineering practices
    Prepare development bond estimates, determine inspection fees, schedule inspection staff, monitor status of bonds, review bond reductions / releases, and perform administrative duties related to land development projects
    Oversee preparation and maintenance of municipal maps, record drawings, and other official records
    Prepare resolutions, ordinances, ordinance amendments, assessments, memoranda, reports, presentations, and public correspondence
    Prepares pavement management reports and schedule
    Prepares annual NJDEP MS4 stormwater report
    Oversees work and scheduling of inspection staff
    Provide customer service to residents and the general public
    Reviews problems in field and advises on appropriate corrective measures
    Performs other duties as assigned by the Township Engineer

    Required Experience, Technical Skills, and Knowledge:5 years or more of related Civil Engineering work experience, or equivalent
    Thorough knowledge of the principals, practices, modern methods, problems, and techniques of civil engineering related to preparing plans, specifications, designs for and inspection of public improvement construction projects
    Fundamental knowledge of land and engineering AutoCAD systems
    Comprehension of hydraulic analysis and design pertaining to storm and sanitary sewers
    Detailed knowledge of Municipal Land Use Law, Public Contracts Law, NJDEP regulations, AASHTO, and MUTCD
    Ability to quickly learn, support, and implement Township Code, policies, and procedures
    Fundamental knowledge of ESRI GIS systems

    Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D design and drafting plans
    Computer skills, specifically proficient use of Microsoft Windows, Office, and ability to learn new software
    Organizational skills related to office records, field documents, and correspondence
    Ability to prepare clear, technically sound, and informative reports, statements, findings, and recommendations
    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with officials, employees, consultants, and the public
    Excellent verbal, written, and customer service skills including the ability to resolve difficult situations and avoid adverse outcomes

    Education / Certification / License Required:
    Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
    A valid NJ driver's license in good standing
