We need youJob PurposeWhat you'll doSupports product teams to understand and resolve critical technical issues in almost any engineering productCreates complex architectural designs that can be understood and implemented by all engineering product teamsYou will be seen as an influencer and leader with front end technologies Active influencer of organization wide technology decisionsDemonstrates extensive knowledge in networking concepts and infrastructure in both traditional and cloud environmentsDemonstrates an expert knowledge of industry best practice in at least one programming language and technology stackActive influencer of companywide technology decisionsResponsible for monitoring technical capabilities across product teams.

Actively works with product teams to drive adoption of practices and ways of workingWorks with Core Engineering leadership to prioritize work across the Core Engineering landscapeDemonstrates new findings in technology regularly to the wider engineering communityActively working with multiple software engineering teams to introduce new tooling to align with industry trendsAids Core Engineering leadership with identifying colleagues suitable for promotion to principal engineeringParticipate in the hiring of new senior talent to Core EngineeringParticipate in the hiring of new senior talent to product teamsWhat you'll needDiplomatic and emotionally intelligent, has an ability to listen to and entertain other points of view8+ years of experience with front end technologies such as React, TypeScript, JavaScript librariesDemonstrable experience in delivery and design of multi-domain architecturesAn expert practitioner of object-oriented programming principles, including SOLID and DDDExtensive experience implementing multiple data persistence technologies and architecturesA quality driven approach to code authoring and testing, producing idiomatic and maintainable codeExpertise using a wide variety of cloud architectures and alternativesExpert system design experience, including design patterns and best practicesMore InformationAt National Grid, we keep the lights on and homes warm.
