    POSITION TITLE:
    OPTICIAN/


    OPTOMETRIC TECHNICIAN

    STATUS:

    NON EXEMPT

    LOCATION:
    Sonora, California


    SALARY RANGE:
    $22.56 to $26.88 Hourly


    POSITION SUMMARY:


    The purpose of this position is to assist and support the Optometry Department's professional staff, provide care of patients during all stages of their visits and entails both front office and back office procedures.


    The position requires an awareness and keen appreciation of American Indian traditions, customs, and socioeconomic needs and the ability at all times to meet and deal effectively in contacts with Indian health organizations which requires tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness and good judgment in handling functions of a sensitive nature.


    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
    A


    OPTOMETRY PROVIDER SUPPORT:

    • Cleans exam room and lab between patient visits and after hours according to protocol.
    • Escorts patients to exam rooms and prepares them for the providers by taking necessary vital signs on all patients.
    • Assists with maintenance and inventory of equipment and supplies, and restocks exam rooms.
    • Maintains infection control standards, including autoclaving instrument and logging of autoclave testing.
    • Assists with assessments required for visits, audits and other regulatory guidelines.
    • Assist clients to select frames that are appropriate for them and in the preferred style and color they want
    • Prepare work orders to the optical laboratory that relate to the grinding and mounting of lenses in the chosen frames
    • Handle administrative duties that include tracking inventory, recording sales, submitting patient insurance information, bookkeeping and client records
    • Coordinate frames and eye measurements to the optical prescription
    • Assists with training of newly employed staff as directed.
    • Comply with all MACT policies and procedures at all times.
    • Other duties as assigned

    QUALITY ASSURANCE:


    • Participates in Departmental Quality Assurance activities.
    • Inventory and monthly check of emergency carts and supplies and do appropriate documentation.
    • Must adhere to the MACT Health Board, Inc. Corporate Code of Conduct
    • Must complete EHR training.

    OPTOMETRY RECEPTION:


    • Register patients; complete charts, and insurance forms.
    • Telephone skills, directing and screening calls, making appointments.
    • Process super bills, lab results, various medical documents and insurance forms.
    • Direct forms to the appropriate departments.
    • Open and review mail, direct to appropriate departments.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Current CPR certificate.
    • Optical Laboratory Technician Certificate
    • Experienced in medical field preferred.

    MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

    • Must pass Occupational Health Screening.
    • Must possess a valid form of identification as listed on the U.S. Department of Justice I-9 form, verified using the E Verify system.
    • Clean DMV driving record and MACT auto insurance driving eligibility (determined by auto insurance carrier).

    DESIRED ABILITIES:

    • Knowledge of universal precautions.
    • Knowledge of various working policies and procedures of the Medical Clinic at M.A.C.T. Health Board, Inc.
    • Knowledge of various clerical tasks required, e.g., assisting patients in completing forms.
    • Knowledge of various tools and equipment used by the Optometrists.
    • Knowledge of cleaning solutions and sterile processes.
    • Knowledge of confidentiality rules regarding medical information as well as the
    • Privacy Act. HIPPA educated
