    Job DescriptionDescription:

    Responsible for care, maintenance and stocking of technical equipment and supplies; and creating a clean safe environment for the care of patients in the endoscopy unit. This job profile may require call subject to the department's discretion.

    Responsibilities

    Assist the physician with accuracy in endoscopic procedures. Duties including passing and operation of equipment such as biopsy forceps, dilators, banding devices, ablation probes, guide wires, catheters, FNA needles and collection of specimens.

    Prepares patient appropriately for procedures.

    Maintains high level disinfection of all equipment.

    Assist in moving and positioning the patient for procedures.

    Follows process for sending scopes and other equipment out for repair.

    Maintains inventory and assists in restocking/ordering supplies.

    Maintains knowledge of proper use of equipment needed for procedures.

    Provides personal care to patients including dressing and transportation.

    Physical and Environmental Demands

    Requires frequent exposure to unpleasant or disagreeable physical environment such as high noise level and exposure to heat and cold, occasional handling or working with potentially dangerous equipment, constant exposure to biohazardous conditions such as risk of radiation exposure, blood borne pathogens, fumes or airborne particles, and/or toxic or caustic chemicals which mandate attention to safety considerations, occasional working hours significantly beyond regularly scheduled hours, occasional activities subject to significant volume changes of a seasonal/clinical nature, constant work produced subject to precise measures of quantity and quality, frequent bending, occasional lifting and carrying more than 100 pounds, occasional crouching/stooping, occasional driving, occasional kneeling, frequent pushing/pulling, frequent reaching, frequent sitting, constant standing, constant twisting, and constant walking. (occasional-up to 20%, frequent-from 21% to 50%, constant-51% or more)

    Requirements:

    High school graduate or GED required. Healthcare experience preferred.
