    Manufacturing Project Manager/Lead Estimator Position at XYZ Company

    The role of a Manufacturing Project Manager involves overseeing the estimating and sales process associated with sheet metal fabrication projects in our job shop environment. The Project Manager will collaborate with our estimator, process engineer, production manager, and ownership to ensure that potential projects align with our shop's capabilities and are estimated efficiently, meeting both client expectations and company profitability goals.

    • Project Assessment: Evaluate project specifications, drawings, and requirements to accurately assess materials, labor, equipment, and other resources needed for sheet metal fabrication jobs. Determine if the project is suitable for the available equipment and resources.
    • Cost Estimation: Develop precise cost estimates for projects using knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, materials, labor rates, and overhead costs. Utilize Paperless Parts quoting software for estimating direct and indirect costs.
    • Time Management: Create realistic project timelines based on the scope of work, resource availability, and production capacity. Coordinate with production and scheduling teams for efficient project execution within Fulcrum Pro ERP software.
    • Vendor Relations: Communicate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to obtain pricing and lead time information. Negotiate favorable terms and pricing to optimize project profitability.
    • Sales Generation: Identify potential sales opportunities through online networks and secure new work.
    • Engineering: Assist with programming laser and press brake using Striker Systems, PEP, and DiamondBEND software. Basic use of Solidworks 2024 will be required.
    • Documentation: Maintain detailed records of project estimates, update estimating software, and refine tools for accuracy and efficiency.
    • Collaboration: Work closely with estimators, engineering, and production teams to ensure alignment on project requirements and pricing strategies.
    • Continuous Improvement: Stay updated on industry trends, advancements, and identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings for increased competitiveness.
    • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain positive client relationships providing timely and accurate cost estimates and quotations.

    Additional Job Duties Include:

    • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
    • Strong mathematical skills and attention to detail for accurate calculations.
    • Proficiency with estimating software and Microsoft Office Suite, adaptability to learn new tools.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for making sound decisions under pressure.
    • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
    • Ability to maintain a clean and organized work environment and work around loud machinery.
    • Operate a forklift, press brake, and fiber laser if necessary.
    • Complete other shop duties requested by staff.
    • Comfortable working around dogs.
