    SUMMARY


    To provide each of your assigned residents with routine daily nursing and services in accordance with the resident's assessment and care plan, and as may be directed by your supervisors.

    EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE


    Certified Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide Certification, High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    ADMINISTRATIVE FUNCTIONS:

    • Report all changes in resident's condition to the Supervisor/Officer
    • Report accidents/incidents you observe on the shift in that the incident occurs

    ADMISSION, TRANSFER, AND DISCHARGE FUNCTIONS:

    • Ensure resident's room is ready and greet new residents
    • Assist residents with packing their personal possessions when being transferred

    PERSONNEL FUNCTIONS:

    • Perform assigned tasks in accordance with policies and procedures and instructed by your supervisor
    • Report occupational exposures to blood, body fluids, infectious materials and hazardous chemicals to your supervisor

    PERSONAL NURSING CARE FUNCTIONS:

    • Assist residents with daily dental and mouth care
    • Assist residents with bath functions.
    • Assist residents with dressing/undressing as necessary
    • Assist residents with hair and nail care functions
    • Shave male residents. Keep body hair on female resident's clean shaven
    • Keep residents dry if they become wet or soiled
    • Change bed linens/make beds
    • Position bedfast residents as needed
    • Assist residents with bowel and bladder functions as needed
    • Maintain intake and output records as instructed
    • Check and report bowel movements and character of stool as instructed
    • Assist in transporting residents when necessary
    • Provide eye and ear care as instructed
    • Assist with application of nonsterile warm/cold compresses
    • Weight and measure residents as instructed
    • Measure and record temperatures, pulse and respirations as instructed.
    • Ensure all residents that are not able to call for help are checked frequently

    SPECIAL NURSING CARE FUNCTIONS:

    • Observe and report pressure areas and skin breakdown
    • Report injuries of an unknown source, including skin tears
    • Provide daily perineal care
    • Provide daily Range of Motion Exercises
    • Turn bedfast residents at least every two hours while awake
    • Perform special treatments as needed, i.e., suctioning, aerosol treatment, tube feeding
    • Give medications as directed by nurse/supervisor

    FOOD SERVICES FUNCTIONS

    • Prepare residents for meals
    • Prepare food and formulas
    • Serve food trays and assist with feeding as indicated.
    • Record food/fluid intake

    STAFF DEVELOPMENT

    • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational classes

    SAFETY AND SANITATION

    • Follow established safety and sanitation precautions in all duties
    • Perform routine housekeeping duties

    RESIDENT RIGHTS

    • Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information
    • Ensure that you treat all residents fairly, with kindness, dignity and respect
    CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

    Valid Florida Driver's License

    FIRST AID/CPR AED Certifications

    APD Training Courses
