- Experience in blood draws, labeling specimens, centrifuging, recording maintenance data, decontamination, updating patient information, etc.
- Collects and stores specimens following established procedures.
- Clearly explains the venipuncture (blood drawing) process and other specimen collection methods in a courteous manner.
- Demonstrates techniques using straight needles and butterfly needles.
- Understands all physician orders thoroughly.
- Matches laboratory requisition forms to specimen tubes, labels, centrifuges, splits, and freezes specimens based on test orders.
- Verifies test requisitions against scripts for accuracy.
- Packages specimens for transport.
- Stores specimen samples at required temperatures, places them in appropriate containers, labels accurately, and follows specific procedures diligently.
- Answers phone calls and provides laboratory results when needed.
- Phlebotomy, Venipuncture, Drawing blood, Pediatric, Specimen collection, Phlebotomy certification, Specimen processing.
- Valid Phlebotomy certification as required by state regulations.
- Minimum of 6 months of relevant experience.
