    Description

    Overall Purpose

    :

    Under semi-direct supervision, to perform the general work required in the fabrication, maintenance, repair, welding, and painting of all Company automotive equipment and associated equipment and machinery.

    Job Responsibilities:

    As directed, performs assigned fabrication, maintenance, and repair work such as:

  • Repair, replace, overhaul, straighten and reassemble panels, frames, braces, fenders, under boxes, floors, floorboards, doors, windows, and hardware of bodies and associated equipment
  • Heat, cut and shame light and heavy metal parts and operate the various metal cutting and shaping equipment as required.
  • Prepare and join all types of metal parts using gas fueled and electric brazing and welding equipment as required.
  • Selects the proper equipment and materials required for making setups, preparing surfaces and performing the operations necessary for the work assigned.
  • Performs the necessary bench and floor work including riveting, welding, carpentry, metal work and repair work which may include using synthetics such as epoxys, fiber reinforced plastics and polyethylene.

    Prepares wood, metal and plastic surfaces for painting and paints bodies and body equipment using spray or hand painting methods.

    Performs miscellaneous construction and repair work on non-automotive equipment such as dollies, racks, frames and benches.

    May be required to assist a mechanic in automotive repair work.

    Prepares shop forms such as job cards and parts requisitions as required.

    Performs other work related to the above as required or assigned.

    Education / Experience Requirements:

    Two years, or comparable, automotive and repair experience.

    Must be able to pass the company administered standardized test. (CAST)

    Working familiarity with the tools of the trade and with modern methods of automotive body repair work.

    Familiarity with the construction of automotive body, chassis and associated equipment.

    Must have State of Pennsylvania driver's license and pass Company driving test or willing and able to obtain a CDL within 6 months.
