    Job Summary:
    The Registered Nurse (RN) II is a professional caregiver who takes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a set period. Providing care through the use of self, the nursing process, the environment and tools, and other health care team members.
    Essential Responsibilities:
    • Conducts assessment/data collection in a systematic manner, focusing on various aspects such as physiologic, psychosocial, cultural, spiritual, and cognitive conditions; including nutrition, pain management, patient/family education, family involvement, and patient advocacy.
    • Creates a goal-directed care plan as needed.
    • Delivers thorough, skillful, consistent, and continuous care.
    • Establishes care priorities based on patient needs and available resources.
    • Identifies patient/family learning needs and addresses them.
    • Shows sensitivity to patient/family rights, specific needs, cultural differences, and ethical beliefs.
    • Coordinates care for patients and patient populations.
    • Builds effective relationships with the health care team, patients, and families.
    • Delegates tasks appropriately and coordinates team duties.
    • Evaluates care effectiveness by team members.
    • Communicates effectively and follows established protocols.
    • Demonstrates and applies safety principles.
    • Performs well in emergency situations, remaining calm and documenting events.
    • Takes responsibility for professional practice.
    • Participates in staff development activities.
    • Shows knowledge of legal issues and patient confidentiality.
    • Engages in Performance Improvement and nursing research activities.
    • Identifies and resolves problems effectively.
    • Demonstrates a service philosophy in all interactions.
    • Provides data for staffing decisions and remains flexible in resolving staffing issues.
    • Proficient in computer use for documentation and information conveying.
    • Performs other related duties as needed.
    • Creates a goal-directed care plan according to nursing diagnosis and patient outcomes.
    • Identifies patient/family learning needs and takes appropriate actions.
    • Demonstrates knowledge and actions in caring for a specific patient population.
    • Participates in staff development activities.
    • Documents patient care accurately and timely.
    • Candidates may be trained in specialty areas if no qualified candidate is found.
    Basic Qualifications:
    Experience
    • Six months recent experience in an acute care setting or completion of orientation in the KP New Graduate/Residency Training Program.
    Education
    • High School Diploma/GED
    • Graduate of an accredited registered nursing program with clinical experience; OR completion of an entry-level MSN program.
    • Registered Nurse License (California)
    • Additional certifications within specific timeframes.
    Additional Requirements:
    • Knowledge of RN scope of practice.

    • Training in specialty areas may be required.
    • Basic Arrhythmia recognition skills.
    • Adherence to collective bargaining agreement specifications.
