PiedmontAthens Regional, a primary Stroke center, is home to a DNV StrokeCertified Neuro Science floor. It is a 30-bed acute care facilitythat specializes in Stroke, Spinal injuries, head injuries, and preand post-op surgical needs. The nursing staff are NIHSS-assessmentcertified and attend the Georgia stroke class curriculum.
This is a fast-paced, inpatient unit that caresfor patients along the continuum of their recovery.
Our team ofstaff on the Neuro floor is supported by a Stroke Coordinator,PT/OT, Respiratory Therapy, Physicians, Case Management, SocialWork, Secretary, Phlebotomy, lift team, IV team, STAT team, andPharmacy.
Our comprehensive orientation period pairs bothexperienced and new staff with a qualified preceptor that helpswith goal-setting and training to ensure your success as part ofthe Neuro Team.
The Neurology unit providesnursing care to patients utilizing nursing processes to assess,plan, implement, and evaluate the care for patients. He/shefunctions within the framework of the policies and procedures ofthe organization and demonstrates professional growth andaccountability.The staff nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.
RESPONSIBLE FOR:The staff nurse provides nursing care topatients from birth through the lifecycle utilizing nursingprocesses to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the care forpatients.
He/she functions within the framework of the policies andprocedures of the organization and demonstrates professional growthand accountability.The staff nurse is responsible for maintainingstandards of practice, coordinating patient care activities of allassigned staff in the provision of quality nursingcare.

Qualifications:
MINIMUMEDUCATION REQUIRED:
Graduate of a nursingprogram
MINIMUM EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
New Graduates of a nursing programeligible
MINIMUMLICENSURE/CERTIFICATION REQUIRED BY LAW:
CurrentLicense in the State of Georgia as a Registered Nurse or NLC/eNLCMultistate License. BLS certification required.
ADDITIONALQUALIFICATIONS:
Advanced certification in fieldof specialty, if applicable. Bachelor's degree preferred. NursingExperience in Hospital Setting Preferred.
