- The incumbent will work with live animals (mouse), perform immunology and basic molecular biology such as flow cytometry, tissue isolation, DNA and RNA preparation, PCR, recombinant DNA cloning, gel electrophoresis, Western blots and tissue culture; incumbent will keep clear records of experimental results;
- Incumbent will participate in lab meetings, present their data, and actively engaged in the research environment. Outstanding technician can participate in new projects and work closely with the PI for new research directions in immunology and cancer biology. Commitment to excellent laboratory research and strong interests in biology and disease are a must.
- Additional responsibilities pertain to laboratory safety, organizing supplies, research reagents, equipment maintenance, and other related duties as required.
- Requires a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biology, physics or related science or equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Good interpersonal communications skills are required. Computer skills a must (word/excel/power point/basic computer skills).
- It might be necessary to work late on occasion to complete experiments.
- Experience in a research laboratory and experience working with animal research and flow cytometry are highly preferred.
- 0-6 months experience with cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques. Must be comfortable with working with animal models. Additional experience in animal care, surgical techniques and flow cytometry is a plus, but not required.
- Experience and/or comfort working with mice.
