Our product offerings expanded in 2025 to include placement of preferred equity and holdco debt into distributed generation facilities, in partnership with a leading private equity energy infrastructure investor. This role will lead this strategy and our relationships with key stakeholders.

We work directly with Fortune 500 tax directors, treasurers, and CFOs to help them unlock value from clean energy investments while achieving their sustainability objectives.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Director or Managing Director to help lead our preferred equity placements, corporate tax credit buyer coverage, and transaction execution. This is a senior leadership role with direct interface to the nation's leading distributed generation developers as well as corporate tax directors, treasurers, and CFOs. You will be responsible for building and nurturing relationships, driving transaction volume, and serving as a trusted advisor on tax credit strategy and capital formation.

The transferable tax credit market represents a multi-billion dollar opportunity created by the Inflation Reduction Act. As the market matures, sophisticated corporate buyers are seeking experienced partners who understand both the technical complexities of tax credit transactions and the strategic imperatives driving corporate sustainability initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Lead origination and relationships of tax capital strategies for distribution generation developers
• Oversee preferred equity placement, asset management and integration with tax transfer transactions
• Build and maintain relationships with senior executives (Tax Directors, VPs of Tax, Treasurers, CFOs) at Fortune 500 and mid-market corporate taxpayers
• Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to clients on tax credit strategy, market trends, and capital formation opportunities
• Lead transaction origination and execution across ITC, PTC, 45Z, 45X, and emerging credit types
• Educate prospective buyers on tax credit structures, risks, mitigants, and the value proposition of working with Basis Climate
• Develop and execute go-to-market strategies to expand our buyer network among corporate taxpayers, family offices, banks, and institutional investors
• Collaborate with our diligence and insurance teams to structure transactions that meet buyer risk requirements
• Represent Basis Climate at industry conferences, speaking engagements, and client events
• Contribute to market intelligence, thought leadership content, and product development initiatives
• Build and mentor a high-performing team as the organization scales

Who You Are

• 10-12+ years of experience in renewable energy finance, tax equity, project finance, or energy transactions
• Significant transactional experience across tax equity, tax credits, debt, or M&A in the clean energy sector
• Proven track record of building and maintaining relationships with C-suite executives and senior tax professionals at major corporations
• Deep understanding of IRA tax incentives, transferability mechanics, and the corporate tax credit buyer landscape
• Experience in investment banking coverage, structured origination, or distribution of financial products is highly valued
• Natural relationship builder who establishes credibility quickly and communicates complex concepts clearly
• Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a high-ownership, fast-paced environment
• Highest ethical standards and commitment to client success
• Willingness to travel up to 25% of the time for client meetings and conferences

Nice to Have

• CPA, JD, or MBA with a focus on tax, finance, or energy
• Experience with prevailing wage and apprenticeship (PWA) requirements
• Background in Big Four tax practice, major bank tax equity group, or leading renewable energy developer
• Established network of relationships with corporate tax departments, family offices, or institutional investors
