    SUMMARY:


    The Radiology Tech/Ambulatory Patient Care Tech/Ambulatory Patient Access Representative serves in combined clinical and clerical capacities to help maintain the efficiency and effectiveness of the physician practice.

    The Radiology Technologist is responsible to provide patient services using imaging modalities. The Radiology Tech applies principles of radiation protection; performs X-ray exams; and evaluates images for technical quality.

    The Patient Care Techs (PCTs) provides patient care under the direction of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical nurse for assigned patients.

    They are responsible for assisting with both clinical and clerical duties, for assisting the nursing staff in the delivery of quality care and for coordinating communications occurring at the nurses' station while assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care and safety.

    The Ambulatory Patient Access Representative (APAR) is responsible for coordinating communications occurring at the clinic.

    He/she is responsible for the paperwork involved with registering patients and for keeping up with new and changing insurance matters as well as IT updates and workflow changes.

    The APAR receives supervision from the Clinic Manager.

    Works closely with Patient Access Services System Coordinator to keep up with current guidelines in the registration process, as well as patient financial services to keep up with basic changes for the collection process.

    Provides customer service to patients and their families, visitors, physicians, coworkers, and other medical and non-medical personnel.


    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Operates imaging equipment and all other devices as appropriate.
    • Calculates exposure factors and positions patient correctly.
    • Practices proper radiation protection and radiation safety by observing ALARA on all exams.
    • Evaluates images for technical quality and proper positioning.
    • Performs functions of digital radiography (DR) and computer radiography (CR) equipment.
    • Competent working with PACS.
    • Responsible for assisting with both clinical and clerical duties.
    • Responsible for assisting the professional staff in delivery of quality care to a varied patient population.
    • Responsible for performing point of care testing according to training/competencies.
    • Provides excellent customer service to all.
    • Assists in rooming patients in efficient manner.
    • Answers phone calls providing assistance to patients, referring physician offices, and others who may call, transferring calls to appropriate personnel and/ or takes messages.
    • Keeps abreast of all pertinent federal, state and facility regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.
    • Understands and adheres to compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct, and Conflicts of Interest Policy.
    • Demonstrates age-specific skills as required by position.
    • Offers suggestions on ways to improve operations of department and reduce costs.
    • Attends all mandatory education programs.
    • Improves self-knowledge through voluntarily attending continuing education/certification classes.
    • Maintains required competency levels as identified in written exams, skills checklists, skills labs, annual safety and health requirements as well as service excellence education hours requirements.
    • Willing to cross-train in order to better assist co-workers and to provide maximum efficiency in department.
    • Volunteers/participates on hospital committees, functions, and department projects.
    • Manages resources effectively.
    • Reports equipment in need of repair in order to extend life of equipment.
    • Makes good use of time so as to not create needless overtime.

    EDUCATION:

    • Associate's Degree in Radiologic Technology

    CREDENTIALS:

    • Radiology Tech required
