    The Department of Family and Community Services, IT Network Services isrecruiting for a full-time Microcomputer/Network Specialist 1/2 in Fairbanks, Alaska.

    This position will be filled at either the 1 or 2 level depending on the applicant's qualifications and job experience.

    $2520.00/biweekly Microcomputer/Network Specialist 2: $2883.


    75/biweeklyWhat You Will Be Doing:


    This position will have responsibility for statewide network operations support for DFCS.Responsibilities will include operational support of enterprise and divisional applications, user account management and directory services, O365 email, print services, network storage, and support of the physical and virtual network and server infrastructure used by the department.

    The incumbent will contribute to the success of the network operations unit and the department as a whole through diligent and timely work meeting divisional needs, deadlines, and department security and compliance requirements as dictated by the applicable State and Federal policy and regulations.

    This position will have responsibility for network operations support for DFCS with a specific focus area regionally in the state.

    Responsibilities will include operational support of enterprise and program applications, user accounts, and directory services, program and user network storage, Azure and vendor cloud hosted applications, and physical and virtual support for infrastructure located at both the regional data center as well as individual offices.

    Microcomputer/Network Specialist 1:
    Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies in:

    Customer Service:
    Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside State government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services

    Information Assurance:
    Knowledge of methods and procedures to protect information systems and data by ensuring their availability, authentication, confidentiality, and integrity

    Systems Integration:
    Knowledge of the principles, methods, and procedures for installing, integrating, and optimizing information systems components

    Technical Problem Solving:
    Troubleshoots, diagnoses, analyzes, and identifies system malfunctions to determine the source and cause of the problem.

    Equivalent to those typically gained by:
    Training and experience in installing new computers, printers, and other peripheral devices; loading and troubleshooting software and hardware systems, maintaining security software, and configuring network settings for workstations

    Microcomputer/Network Specialist 2 Any combination of education and/or experience that provides the applicant with competencies inNetwork Management:
    Knowledge of the operation, management, and maintenance of network and telecommunication systems and linked systems and peripherals

    Strategic Thinking:
    Formulates objectives and priorities; implements plans consistent with the long-term interests of the organization in a global environment. Capitalizes on opportunities and manages risks.


    Systems Life Cycle:
    Knowledge of systems life cycle management concepts used to plan, develop, implement, operate, and maintain information systems

    Technical Expertise:

    Effectively applies technical knowledge to solve a range of problems; develops technical solutions to new or highly complex problems that cannot be solve using existing methods or approaches; is sought out as an expert to provide advice or solutions in the technical area.


    Equivalent to those typically gained by:
