    We are seeking a Senior Project Manager to join the Transportation Division team to join our growing team located in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

    This is an exempt position and will be reporting to the Division Director.

    The Senior Project Manager position will report to the Division Director and will play a critical role in the evolution of the Phase I Studies practice at GHA, which includes a variety of roadway and highway improvement projects for Local, County, and State agencies.

    This position supervises the delivery of Phase I Studies and Project Development Reports, and the individual should possess a thorough understanding of roadway design, horizontal and vertical alignments, grading, drainage, and/or traffic analysis disciplines.


    How you will make an impact:
    Partnering with the Division Director to strategize and implement the growth and development of GHA's Phase I Studies practice.
    Leading and overseeing Phase I studies for a variety of clients including Local, County, and State projects.

    Projects typically include any of the following scopes:
    roadway/highway rehabilitation or reconstruction, intersection improvements, traffic signal improvements, pedestrian and bicycle facilities design, and master planning.
    Client management and project team coordination to perform project work, with ultimate project budgeting and scheduling responsibilities. Additionally, coordinate with external agencies as required by project development.
    Attending and actively leading project and/or client meetings, including public information meetings and public hearings.
    Partnering with the Division Director on business development and marketing efforts with both clients and other teaming partners. This includes preparation of proposals and statements of interest for project pursuits.

    Providing guidance and mentorship to other junior-level staff as necessary to assist them in task completion in a hybrid-style team setting, including assisting the Division Director in establishing training programs for building a growing team.

    Comply with Division's Quality Management Plan and actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the Quality Management Plan.
    What you will bring to Gewalt Hamilton Associates, Inc

    Required Knowledge, Education and Experience:
    Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
    Professional Engineering (PE) license in the State of Illinois.
    Minimum of 15 years of transportation engineering experience preferred.
    Familiarity with Bentley CAD Software

    (Microstation/OpenRoads

    Designer) and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D.
    Advanced proficiency in several transportation design disciplines (ie. transportation design, environmental regulations, funding requirements, Phase I Planning Studies, Traffic Studies, etc.) sufficient to provide guidance on the project development to both the project team and the client.
    Valid Illinois Driver's License and registered insured personal vehicle.

    Required Skills, and Abilities:
    Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effective guidance to the project team and recommendations to the client.

    Ability to work independently without supervision and as part of a larger team specifically as related to directing and scheduling project tasks.

    Self-starting, detail-oriented individual, with organizational and interpersonal skills capable of keeping track and reporting on multiple assigned tasks.

    A solid work ethic with the desire and willingness to develop the skillset and knowledge base to complete design tasks of select, low-complexity project disciplines.

    Efficient self-initiative to understand and meet client deadlines.
    A creative mindset suitable for strategizing the growth of the practice.
