    Overview:

    This role optimizes purchasing and supply chain practices for cost-effective steel acquisition, negotiates material agreements with suppliers, and leads strategic sourcing decisions. Responsibilities include purchasing to the needs of each facility, efficient inventory management, and working with other branches to act as a family in materials management.

    Compensation Range: $90,000 to $110,000

    Responsibilities:
    • Oversee all aspects of the purchasing process, ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of raw materials and supplies.
    • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating favorable terms and conditions to optimize costs and quality.
    • Partner with sales and other functional areas to achieve a customer-centric product assortment that builds profitable, repeat sales.
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand and align purchasing strategies with production schedules and overall business goals.
    • Implement efficient inventory management practices to minimize holding costs while ensuring adequate stock levels.
    • Lead the development and execution of strategic sourcing initiatives to enhance the overall efficiency of the supply chain.
    • Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, pricing, and supplier capabilities.
    • Evaluate supplier performance, addressing any issues promptly and fostering continuous improvement.
    • Develop and implement policies and procedures related to procurement and supply chain management.
    Qualifications:

    Education and Experience:

    • 10 years previous experience in the steel industry directly involved in purchasing.

    Knowledge/Skills/Competencies:

    • Proven track record of successfully managing supplier relationships and negotiating contracts.
    • Strong understanding of inventory management principles and supply chain best practices.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Effective communication and negotiation skills.
    • Proficient in relevant software applications (e.g., ERP systems, Microsoft Office).
    • Preferred: Professional certifications in supply chain management or related fields.

    Some travel to vendors or industry events will be associated with the role.
