    Jackson Memorial Perdue Medical Center is a long-term-care facility located on a beautiful 11-acre campus in South Dade. The medical center is a licensed, 163-bed skilled nursing and rehabilitation facility. We provide care for a diverse cultural population of younger and older adults.

    Summary

    Food Service Worker 1 is routine food preparation and serving work in a multi-program health facility. Work involves assistance to cooks, dietitians, and other personnel in kitchens or dining rooms in a 200-bed facility. Employees in this classification are required to observe established sanitary standards in the preparing, handling and serving of food, and in their personal hygiene; and are responsible and courteous and have a pleasant demeanor in serving patrons of the dining area.

    Responsibilities

    • Prepares various cold food items and beverage for residents and staff as well as for special events.
    • Portions food and places on proper serving dish, wraps, labels and dates before putting in refrigerator.
    • Sets up and serves on tray line.
    • Prepares and delivers nourishments/tube feedings to floors on time.
    • Breaks down cold food station, cleans area, utensils and appliances after each use.
    • Bags silverware and stacks trays.
    • Sets up trays for Rehab and delivers to Rehab dining.
    • Prepares early trays and bag lunches.
    • Checks production sheets for the next day, makes gelatin, toast and pudding when needed.
    • Receives groceries, produce, frozen food, paper goods and supplements and stores in appropriate places.
    • Checks for bent/dented cans and damaged.
    • Distributes food items to cooks and salad areas.
    • Checks menu, production sheets and ensure all food items needed are placed in small storage room.
    • Loads food on food carts, pulls them to and from nursing units and maintains them clean.
    • Strips carts, runs dish machine and washes dishes properly (i.e., pre-soak dishes and silverware before putting in machine).
    • Does light to heavy cleaning which includes cleaning of: ovens, stoves, hoods, steamtables, deep fryer, filters, walk-in refrigerators, freezer, dish machine, floor mats, sweeping and mopping floors as well as cleaning any other food service equipment.
    • Removes garbage, empty boxes and milk crates as needed and runs the garbage compactor.
    • Maintains storage areas clean and orderly.
    • Follow established food preparation, serving, storing and sanitation methods as set forth by JMPMC/Nutrition Services policies, procedures and manufacturer guidelines through in-services in order to prevent foodborne illness.
    • Accountable for fulfilling responsibilities in accordance with the JHS/PHT/JMPMC Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan and for responding, as assigned, to any and all emergencies or disasters, either internal or external.
    • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise).
    • Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

    Experience

    Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

    Education

    High School diploma is strongly preferred.

    Credentials

    Non-licensed worker.
