- Coordinate surgery/procedure schedule and communicates with physician pertinent medical information needing attention prior to surgery. Where applicable, order necessary surgical supplies or equipment where not provided by surgery department (i.
- Perform precertification per written request of provider and insurance company requirements. Ensure all required consent forms have been signed.
- Schedules pre
- Provide patients and families with general information and answer general questions regarding surgery/procedure and preparation requirements, documenting each encounter. Refer medical questions or concerns to appropriate medical staff.
- Confirm next day surgery/procedure schedule with hospital and patient.
- Perform billing quotes/payment plans per Mercyhealth Cash Collection Policy.
- Prepare surgical charge tickets for provider. Monitor billing system to ensure charges have been submitted.
- Assist with quality data abstraction and report generation as requested.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Completion of Medical Terminology course or two years medical office or medical billing experience.
- Minimum one year experience with data entry/databases and telephone customer service.
- Knowledge of Epic and/or Athena preferred
- Medical front office experience, including scheduling appointments and working with insurance billing preferred.
- Coding experience and/or certification preferred.
