    Role Cloud Database Engineer

    Location: 3 days onsite in PHX AZ

    Duration: 6 month contract to hire

    Pay rate: 60-68/hr (some flex for all-start candidate

    Work Auth needed: UNITED STATES CITIZEN or GREEN CARD HOLDER (must be able to work W2 employment without sponsorship)

    Required Skills & Experience

    -4+ years of DBA, Database or Data Engineering experience focusing on RDBMS.

    -Cloud database technology infrastructure including storage, hardware, backup/recovery, monitoring/alerting, security

    -Strong public cloud experience with either AWS or GCP, preferably obtaining a Database certification within either environment.

    -the ability to write code or script, e.g. for test harnesses or other database-related tools and utilities

    -Knowledge of virtualization and cloud infrastructures, and of implementations such as VMWare, OpenShift, Kubernetes and Docker

    -Knowledge of modern storage and compute technologies, including hyper-converged infrastructures

    Job Description

    A large financial enterprise in Phoenix, AZ is looking for a Cloud Database Engineer to join their R&D to help decipher which cloud environments and databases the enterprise should use. This will not be tailored to any project, but to help company wide with best practices. You will be working with another lead engineer, along with other members of the scrum team to assign stories and features, build out an engineering blueprint, and to ensure the DB set ups are aligned with project initiatives. You will put these skills to use by evaluating and preparing new and upgraded cloud database offerings for use across the enterprise, and by documenting, presenting and explaining the appropriate techniques, and patterns for their use to our application development, database administration, and operational support teams. This team works heavily within AWS and GCP and will be partnering with databases such as Postgres, DynamoDB, Firestore, etc.
