    Description

    The Registered Nurse (House Supervisor) is a member of the Nursing Administrative Team. He/She reports to the House Supervisor Director. The House Supervisor is responsible for the coordination of clinical nurse staffing in the absence of the unit director. The house supervisor works directly with nursing unit directors to ensure staffing needs and targets on nursing units are met as the patient census fluctuates throughout the shift. The House Supervisor may provide direct or indirect patient care across all nursing areas of the hospital. He/She attends educational programs specific to the role. He/She functions in a leadership role and is responsible for coaching clinical nurses as needed. The House Supervisor must posses' good communication skills and must be able to effectively communicate with physicians, peers, patients, and families. He/She acts as the liaison between the nursing departments and all the ancillary departments to promote continuity of care, optimal patient outcomes, patient satisfaction, cost efficiency and compliance.


    Minimum Education
    Bachelor of Science in Nursing

    Required Skills
    Must possess strong computer skills and have the ability to work with multiple computer systems
    Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English
    Must be able to operate standard patient care equipment for services provided
    Must possess the ability to work well under pressure, to adapt quickly in changing situations, to function dependently and independently and to be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.

    Certifications:
    Basic Life Support (BLS)

    Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)

    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)

    Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP)
    Licenses: Must possess an active RN license in the state of TN or hold a Compact State RN license with the intent to obtain a TN RN license within 30 days of hire.

    Minimum Work Experience
    Minimum of 3 years clinical experience
    Previous house supervision experience preferred
    Must complete ER Triage Training within 6 months of hire.
