    THIS IS AN ON-SITE POSITION.

    General Description of Position

    This position will support the design, development, and transition to production of mechanical parts, cables, and electromechanical assemblies. The chosen candidate will interact within a team of multi-disciplined engineers both in China and the USA to assist in design, manufacturability reviews, manufacturing process evaluation, and transfer builds to our manufacturing partners. Activities will include drawing and specification review, material evaluation, manufacturing process optimization, interaction between the end customer and manufacturing team, troubleshooting of various manufacturing processes, and occasional product design and development. The ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Speak and write fluent English including an advanced familiarity with English technical terms and units.
    • Analyze, and validate mechanical part, cable, and mechanical and electronic assembly designs for completeness and manufacturability.
    • Create and update processes and procedures related to engineering functions.
    • Possess and apply a working knowledge of compliance requirements to designs. Including UL, CSA, ASTM, European and other standards.
    • Performs dimensional and tolerance analysis as needed.
    • Understand customer technical needs and convey these clearly to other team members and vendors.
    • Assist in resolving customer concerns and complaints.
    • Solve unilaterally or in cooperation with other iConn team members manufacturing issues (assembly, machining, etc.), quality issues (dimensional, material, and design discrepancies, etc.), and purchasing issues (vendor qualification, engineering support, etc.).
    • Suggest and help implement product line cost reduction and reliability improvement initiatives.

    POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

    Skills and Abilities

    • Speak and write fluent English and have an advanced familiarity with English technical terms and units.
    • Read and comprehend, in both English and Chinese (Chinese is highly desirable but not required), technical documents and drawings and understand Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
    • Familiar with various manufacturing processes (die casting, machining, plastic molding, sheet metal fabrication, cable and connector fabrication, and others). Hands-on experience with any of these is a plus.
    • Working knowledge of 3D Modeling and part drawing practices using SolidWorks or a similar system.
    • Working knowledge of thermal and mechanical simulation and practices a plus but not required.
    • Ability to apply mathematical concepts and operations toward design and data analysis.
    • Applies principles of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
    • Able to respond to complex or difficult inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
    • Effectively communicates information and responds to questions in person-to-person and small group situations with customers, clients, vendors, and/or other employees of the organization.
    • Solves practical problems and deals with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
    • Able to read, analyze, and understand common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
    • Understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods is a plus but not required.

    Education and Experience

    • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent experience.
    • Five years of related experience.
    • Experience in 3D modeling skills (Pro/E and/or SolidWorks ore equivalent) and 2D drafting skills (required).

    Computer Skills

    • Advanced: SolidWorks (or similar 3D CAD).
    • Intermediate: Microsoft Office Tools
