    Description

    A leading global US Bank with a strong presence in the energy markets is seeking an experienced US Power Trader to join the dynamic team in Houston, driving success in the US power markets.

    Responsibilities:

    • Market Analysis: Perform in-depth analysis of the US power markets, including supply and demand trends, weather forecasts, regulatory changes, and grid conditions.
    • Trading Strategies: Develop and implement trading strategies to capitalize on market opportunities, manage risks, and maximize returns.
    • Portfolio Management: Oversee a portfolio of power trading positions, ensuring optimal performance and adherence to risk management protocols.
    • Execution: Execute trades effectively across various platforms and exchanges, maintaining robust relationships with market participants, including brokers and counterparties.
    • Research & Insights: Work closely with the research team to gather and interpret market data, providing actionable insights to inform trading decisions.
    • Compliance & Reporting: Ensure all trading activities comply with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Prepare regular reports on trading performance and market conditions.

    Requirements:

    • Experience: Minimum of 3+ years' of experience trading US power markets, with a proven track record of success.
    • Track Record: Proven ability to generate impressive returns on the US Natural Gas Market.
    • Trading Horizon: MUST be trading beyond day ahead, ideally along the curve.
    • Knowledge: In-depth understanding of power market fundamentals, trading strategies, and risk management practices.
    • Skills: Strong analytical and quantitative skills, proficiency in trading platforms and analytical tools.
    • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
    • Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Engineering, or a related field. Advanced degrees or relevant certifications (e.g., CFA, CMT) are a plus.
