    Description

    Company is seeking a Roadway Design Project Engineer who will be working with a team of engineers on design and production of all aspects of roadway design including horizontal and vertical alignments; intersection layout; corridor modeling; drainage design; ROW, cross sections; utility plans; signing & marking; and quantity/cost estimating.

    Position will entail communication with the Project Managers and Engineers on key issues and project progress.

    Responsibilities


    • Under moderate supervision, plan, design, and analyze data on roadway/transportation engineering projects
    • Prepare moderately complex studies with associated drawings, maps, reports, and supporting documentation
    • Calculate quantities and prepare construction cost estimates
    • Prepare construction drawings
    • Prepare specifications
    • Recognize technical discrepancies in analytical results, make appropriate corrections, and follow standard procedures established by the technical group or client
    • Develop a familiarity with company standards, client expectations and typical engineering practices.
    • Conduct site visits and report findings to supervisory engineers and/or project managers
    • Assist project manager in communication with clients regarding project issues, attend meetings, and prepare meeting minutes
    • Assist project managers with defining scope of work and man-hour requirements
    • Assist project managers and more experienced engineers in ensuring that project/task schedules and budgets are met
    • Coordinate with team members and younger engineers to ensure timely and accurate document and/or drawing preparation
    • Responsible for progressing knowledge through completion of various training initiatives: attending seminars; reviewing professional publications; and attending in-house training courses
    • Independently complete development of engineering design, preparation of specifications, compilation of technical reports and other activities as necessary that require knowledge of standard principles and techniques.
    • Perform work on projects involving more complex procedures and techniques
    • Responsible for development of computation methods, technical reports, and technical specifications at the direction of senior engineering staff, the section manager, or the technical director using the standards established by the technical group.
    • Act immediately to resolve operational problems and minimize delays
    • Identify, develop, and gather technical resources necessary to complete assignments
    • May be responsible for large portions of projects with supervision from senior engineering staff, the section manager, or the technical director
    • Accompany senior engineering staff on field assignments when appropriate
    • Assist senior engineering staff with training and mentoring of junior engineer staff
    • Perform other appropriate related engineering duties
    • Demonstrate a strong working knowledge of the respective engineering field (GDOT experience is preferred).
    • Understand and follow QA/QC procedures
    *Requirements**1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related.


    • 2. 4 or more years of Civil Engineering Roadway Design experience.
    • 3. 2 or more years of MicroStation or related Roadway Design Software experience.
