    General Description of Position


    Under the general direction and supervision of the Vice President, Research Planning and Technology/Campus Executive Director – Milford, this individual will lead and have the responsibility for College-wide Information Services Division, including supervision of the Administrative Directors of Infrastructure, Information Systems, and Client Services, and be a key member of the College's IT Leadership team.

    The Chief Information Officer is responsible for the development and due-diligent research of new solutions and concepts to improve the operational efficiency of the College's information technology environments.

    They will be responsible for developing the College's strategic technology direction, and budgeting, and represent the college on all campuses, local and state committees, and teams.

    This is a full-time regular position.

    ESSENTIAL

    FUNCTIONS
    In collaboration with the Vice President, the


    CIO
    will set the strategic direction of the Information Services Division within the College.
    Creates and executes goals to advance the College's and Information Services Division's strategic priorities.
    The


    CIO
    will be responsible for the creation and management of all IT budgets including operation and capital equipment.
    We have oversight and are responsible for the issuance and evaluation of Requests for Proposals regarding IT hardware and software purchases

    Will keep up to date on industry trends and evaluate which trends should be adopted and when to implement those trends in support of the mission of the College.

    Coordinates and ensures hardware and software implementations are completed in a timely manner and on budget.

    Ensures the College maintains a comprehensive, secure, and sustainable technology infrastructure through expanded functionality, redundancy, and innovative uses of technology.

    Recommends for appointment, organizes, orientates, supervises, and evaluates the Administrative Director(s) of Infrastructure, Information Systems, Client Service, and the Information Security Analyst in cooperation with the Vice President for Research Planning and Technology/Campus Executive Director – Milford.

    Responsible for the review and enforcement of appropriate Information Technology procedures and makes recommendations as to appropriate policy changes.
    Provides oversight for best practices in cyber security to protect and preserve the College's information assets.

    Maintains a positive and engaging organizational environment by encouraging input, reflective and transparent communication, and compassion and respect toward the views and ideas of others.

    Supports and strives to achieve the IT Department and College's strategic direction on a daily basis.

    MARGINAL

    FUNCTIONS
    Represents the IT Department to external and internal groups and committees.
    Value and take advantage of professional growth opportunities and activities that keep employees technically current regarding job responsibilities.
    Provide presentations, updates, and training to IT's constituents as needed.
    Perform other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Research Planning and Technology/Campus Executive Director – Milford.
    May be required to perform associated duties, functions, or assignments in other divisions/programs/areas as required.
    Perform other College functions and duties as assigned.
    Must be able to work varied days, hours, shifts, locations, and campuses as required. Work schedules (hours/days/work location) are scheduled by Southeast Community College based on the needs of the College.

    Work hours, shifts, days, and work locations may vary depending on the needs of Southeast Community College and are subject to modification.

    Emergency or scheduled special activities may require hours outside of the regular workweek.

    ABILITIES
    Knowledge of and experience in recruiting, screening, interviewing, hiring, orienting, supervising, evaluating, and motivating staff. Skill and ability to interview prospective employees, counsel current employees, and conduct performance evaluations of staff.
    Knowledge and experience with operating budgets using sound accounting principles for public sector entities.

    Ability to create and monitor a budget for the purpose of managing, and planning the activities of the Information Services division.

    Ability to critically review policies and procedures and to provide input on developing/formulating operative procedures for the division and College leadership area of responsibility.

    Skills and abilities necessary to maintain a positive environment and level of service for all those who interact with the Information Services Division.

    Ability to meet the necessary travel requirements of the position.
    Ability to work and communicate with a diverse constituency of students, staff, and the public. Skill and ability using oral and written business communications.

    Ability to lift and carry up to (50) fifty pounds for short distances, and move tables, chairs, and media equipment.

    Ability to communicate effectively both in writing, in person, and on the phone.
    Ability to use basic computer skills.

    SCHEDULE
    Regular working hours for this position are scheduled between 7:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday requiring a minimum of a 40-hour work week. Special projects and assignments and troubleshooting may require evening and weekend work as needed. This is a full-time regular position based on a 260-day work calendar.

    Minimum Qualifications


    Bachelor's Degree in a related field*Four (4) years of progressive leadership experience within a post-secondary educational institution or large-scale information technology operation.

    *related fields include Information Technology and Information Systems, Computer Science, Information Science, Computer Animation, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Cybersecurity, Computer Programming, Data Analytics, Data Science, Computer Networking, Business, Mathematics, Public Administration, Higher Education Administration, or similar fields.

    Desired Qualifications

    Master's Degree in a related field*Progressive leadership experience within a post-secondary educational institution or large-scale information technology operation.
    IT management experience including staff supervision and budgetary responsibility.
