    Summary of Function:


    The function of the Medical Transportation Program Coordinator is to assist with the daily functions of the Medical Transportation Program on behalf of the Listuguj Community Health Service and First Nation Inuit Health Branch (FNIHB).

    This includes the day-to-day administration, scheduling, and reporting for the program; attendance of monthly LCHS staff meetings and providing advice and assistance to community members with accessing non-insured health benefits.


    Job Duties:
    Administer LCHS Elder's Support & Non-Medical Reimbursement Policy (process reimbursement paperwork, etc.)

    Organize travel for patients going out-of-town on medical appointments in Quebec and New Brunswick


    Provide clients with a FNIHB request for Escort Form, which has to be filled out by a physician prior to medical appointment.

    Prepare reimbursements for expenses incurred by patients.

    Assist with completion of Medical Transportation Program Activity Report

    Record all weekly disbursements, purchase orders for the program.

    Act as replacement on the Medical Transportation phone for local medical appointments.

    Organize travel for those clients discharged locally.

    Assist community members to navigate through various external health systems (i.e., RAMQ, Quebec, Atlantic, etc.)

    Requirements

    Knowledge of the Mi'gmaq Language and culture

    Strong written and oral community skills

    Strong computer skills, solid knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs

    Ability to administer the program in accordance with Medical Transportation Framework

    Ability to advocate on behalf of community members
