**Respiratory Therapist Role Overview**

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to provide care to patients with breathing-related conditions and conduct diagnostic testing. This role requires working both independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team to treat and respond to the immediate needs of patients.

Main Responsibilities:

• Provide services to patients of all age groups in accordance with physician orders, department policies and procedures.
• Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance, assessing patient condition and delivering appropriate treatment.

Requirements:

• Completion of an accredited program for respiratory care.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certification within six months of hire.
• VA Licensed Respiratory Therapist or CRT/RRT credential from NBRC, with state licensure within 12 months of employment.
