Water Meter Reader Job Description

The primary function of this position is to take readings from water meters and record consumption. This involves manual labor, including cleaning meter boxes and removing vegetation that may obstruct access.

• Read water meter dials and enter the data into a handheld device or laptop computer.
• Clean sand and debris from meter boxes as needed, ensuring safe access for future readings.

Responsibilities:

1. Perform regular route checks to gather water usage data.
2. Detect any issues with damaged or obstructed meters, reporting these incidents promptly.
3. Maintain accurate records of consumed water quantities during each reading cycle.
   
   

   This role demands attention to detail, physical stamina for outdoor work in varying conditions (weather-related), interpersonal skills when interacting with members of public/potential clients; basic knowledge about safety regulations also important.
