    We are seeking a Senior Staff Accountant (fully remote position) that will perform accounting for various transactions, such as equity, leases, intercompany, etc., and actively participate in the financial close process.

    This role will hold key relationships within Finance and with client-facing service delivery teams within the firm, as well as interface with our external tax and audit teams.


    The Senior Staff Accountant should be familiar with US GAAP and have some experience with researching technical accounting areas of accounting.

    The ideal candidate will be someone who enjoys a full and sometimes deadline-driven day, has excellent analytical skills and understands that attention to detail is often the key to success.

    They will have three or more years of relevant experience and have demonstrated exceptional competencies through previous employment performance.

    Job Summary


    The Senior Staff Accountant performs accounting for various transactions, such as equity, leases, intercompany, etc., and actively participates in the financial close process.

    This role will hold key relationships within Finance and with client-facing service delivery teams within the firm, as well as interface with our external tax and audit teams.

    The Senior Staff Accountant will work closely with US GAAP and will research technical areas of accounting in order to drives change for Schellman's current practices.

    This position reports to the Senior Manager of Accounting.

    Essential Functions

    Own various areas of accounting and ensure accuracy and quality reporting over those areas
    Generate and/or review journal entries and accruals for month-end close
    Prepare reconciliations and participate in monthly balance sheet reviews
    Develop/maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions
    Generate various reports and queries to support financial reporting and analytics
    Research proper accounting treatment for various transactions
    Prepare/review audit schedules and respond to auditor questions
    Troubleshoot any recurring process issues, determining root cause and driving solutions
    Assist with special projects as necessary

    Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

    At least 3-5 years of progressive job experience in accounting. Big Four experience strongly preferred
    Strong analysis skills. Experience in working with large data and spreadsheets in Excel
    Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively with peers and all levels of management
    Strong organizational skills. Effective in prioritizing work and following through on commitments
    Strong problem-solving skills – ability to determine solutions and alternative solutions based on the situation
    Positive attitude and a high level of enthusiasm
    Ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment
    Ability to work additional hours to meet deadlines

    Education, Work Experience, And Certifications

    Bachelor's degree in Accounting
    Advanced proficiency with Excel required
    CPA preferred; MBA or other advanced degree a plus
    Experience with Workday a plus
