    DESCRIPTION
    Under supervision, the Perfusionist provides basic perfusionist techniques and technical support for the cardiovascular surgical team.

    The duties includes operating a heart-lung machines that artificially replaces a patient's heart or lung functions during surgery; maintaining the care delivery systems to meet patient needs; participating in formal training as needed to perform technical work in the selection, preparation, and maintenance of the cardiopulmonary bypass and ancillary equipment; and maintaining knowledge of perfusion equipment in cardiac surgery, as well as, other circulatory support devices.

    Ensures compliance with policies and procedures of the hospital and within the legal framework of the state. Performs all other duties as assigned
    Depending on experience, the selected candidate will be hired at the Perfusionist or Sr. Perfusionist level.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
    Graduated from an accredited perfusion school.

    BART or BLS at time of hire with commitment to get BART within six (6) months of hire date.

    Certified by the American Board of Cardiovascular Perfusion (ABCP) must be attained within one (1) year of employment.

    Prior related experience, preferably in an academic medical center.


    Experience with a variety of Heart-Lung Machines, centrifugal pumps, IABP, Implantable Ventricular Assist Devices, Intraoperative Auto-transfusion Devices, Blood Saturation Monitors, Hemodynamic Pressure Transducers, ECMO, Anticoagulation monitors.

    Demonstrated knowledge of medical and perfusion terminology.

    Ability to teach and demonstrate ideas of routine scientific application.


    Ability to conduct oneself in a healthy and professional manner regarding sterile dress code etiquette and communicate in a professional manner.

    Must be able to work with adaptability, flexibility and maintain composure during stressful and/or adverse conditions.

    Must be available to take calls and report to work in a timely manner.


    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
    Experience with Pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE).

    SPECIAL CONDITIONS
    Employment is subject to a criminal background check and pre-employment physical.
    Must be able to work various hours and location based on business needs.
    Ability to lift, move, push and pull heavy objects and equipment weighing from 60 to 350 lbs.

    * Ability to spend 95% of working time seating, stooping, standing, reaching up and down, handling equipment and supplies carefully and safely.

    Annual Full Pay Range:
    $174,285 - $216,755 (will be prorated if the appointment percentage is less than 100%)

    Hourly Equivalent:
    $ $103.81
