    Job Functions (Essential) Inspect facilities, machinery, and safety equipment, and develop, manage, and review environmental, health and safety programs to protect people and the environment.

    Ensure compliance with all HS&E legislation, regulatory permitting, and appropriate company standards.

    Lead the correct implementation and maintenance of ISO 14001 & 45001.Manage employee interviews, prepare reports, and review findings of environmental and accident investigations, environmental testing, or facilities inspections, and prepare recommendations for improvement.

    Monitor progress of environmental and safety improvement programs Provide technical-level support on environmental remediation, safety investigations and litigation projects, including remediation system design and determination of regulatory applicability.

    Develop local H&S policies, objectives and targets that are consistent with the organizations HS&E strategy based on the needs of the various stakeholders with particular emphasis on the implementation of plans to fulfil these and related procedures to drive performance improvement.

    Obtain, update, and maintain plans, permits, and standard operating procedures on new builds and projects.

    Collaborate with environmental scientists, safety inspectors, hazardous waste technicians, engineers, and other specialists to address environmental problems and safety concerns.

    Conduct or coordinate worker training and educational programs in areas such as environment and safety laws and regulations, hazardous condition monitoring, and use of safety equipment.

    Provide new-employee health and safety orientations and develop materials for these presentations.

    Maintain sound relations and represent the site in all HS&E matters with regulators, external auditors, R-R businesses, and suppliers, as well as inform local Management of all emerging legislation and regulation that will impact the organization.

    Maintain/improve the site emergency response process (procedures, equipment, and people).Monitor the implementation of the Group HS&E policy and objectives and ensure plans are in place to maintain any externally accredited international standards (OHSAS 18001, ISO 14001, and ISO Lead or initiate activities directly related to Occupational Health such as Industrial Hygiene, Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, ergonomics, etc.

    Assist line and functional management in planning self-audit programs and monitoring business performance.

    Design and implement checking and corrective action measures to regularly review the effectiveness of all aspects of the sites' HS&E management system including performance monitoring, incident investigation and auditing.

    Deliver effective presentations on relevant HS&E matters to drive improvements in management and employee commitment, understanding and engagement with HS&E issues.

    Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Global Code of Conduct.

    Perform special projects as required.

    Qualifications:
    Qualifications (Education, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities)

    Required:

    Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Chemical Engineering or EH&S Management, and 7 years of experience in EH&S management; or 11 years of experience in EH&S management.

    Excellent knowledge of environmental, health and safety laws, OSHA safety requirements, legal codes, government regulations, executive orders and agency rules; and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations, or standards for the protection of the environment and people.

    Strong knowledge of the chemical composition, structure, and properties of substances and of the chemical processes and transformations that they undergo.

    This includes uses of chemicals and their interactions, danger signs, production techniques, and disposal methods.
    Excellent organizational, planning and follow-up skillsExcellent analytical ability, and troubleshooting and problem solving skills where issues are very complex Excellent knowledge of manufacturing and production processes, raw materials, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture of goodsStrong ability to interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, layouts, or other visual aidsStrong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with othersExcellent oral and written communication skillsProficient with PC and MS Office SuitePreferred:Knowledge of heavy duty diesel engine manufacturingKnowledge of MTU products, policies, and procedures
