Associate Director of MSL - Hastings, United States - The San Mateo County Bar Association
Description
Under the general direction of and reporting to the Associate Dean for the MSL Program, the Program Advisor helps the Associate Dean manage the MSL degree program (masters and certificate students), including program assessment and development, co-curricular programs for students (such as orientation), and student academic advising and support.
Manages student onboarding (handoff in coordination with Enrollment Management)
Engages in academic advising for incoming and continuing students.
Provides academic advice and mentorship to students, including helping students understand Academic Regulations and other College policies, recommending courses that are appropriate for the students to achieve their desired and the College's learning outcomes, and assisting students struggling with legal research, writing, or analysis.
Tracks student progress toward completion of degree or certificate requirements, including any specialization, and advises students accordingly.Manages MSL and CSL student records.
Serves as liaison between program participants and UC Hastings faculty, departments, and staff, including teaching faculty, the Dean of Students, Enrollment Management, Registrar's Office, the Office for Academic Skills Instruction and Support, and Student Services.
Creates or supports co-curricular and social programming and instruction such as orientation, study skills workshops, and special MSL graduation activities.
Assists with budget management.Other related duties as assigned.
The incumbent, if qualified, may also be eligible for appointment as an adjunct professor to teach MSL-related courses.
