    Job Summary

    The Department of Chemistry and Physics within the College of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Chemistry, specializing in Polymer Chemistry, Materials Chemistry, or related areas, beginning Fall of 2024.


    The primary responsibilities of this position include:

    conducting research that is relevant to the recycling of plastic materials, teaching chemistry courses at all undergraduate levels, developing elective chemistry courses in the area of expertise, involving undergraduates in research, academic advising and program development, and institutional and/or community service.

    The incumbent is expected to contribute to the polymer research programs in the Center for Materials & Manufacturing Sciences (CMMS) at Troy University.

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Earned doctorate degree in Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, Materials Chemistry, or related areas (degree must be complete by August 2024)
    • Demonstrated ability to carry out original research
    • Demonstrated ability to teach
    • Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work collegially and productively
    Preferred Qualifications

    • Postdoctoral research experience in Polymer Chemistry, Polymer Engineering, Materials Chemistry, or related areas that are relevant to the recycling of plastic materials
    • Research experience involving undergraduates
    • Teaching experience in chemistry (lectures and labs)
