Overview:
The Lead Manufacturing Engineer on the Advance Manufacturing Engineering(AME) team is responsible for leading the research and development of automation, understanding future manufacturing needs, and evaluating and identifying innovative technology to improve manufacturing capabilities and future growth for Cook Medical. They will manage day to day activities, provide leadership and direction, and prioritize team efforts in support of the AME goals and objectives. The successful candidate will be well versed in manufacturing technology with prior experience in the medical device industry demonstrating leadership and project management skills.
Responsibilities: Leading engineers to innovate manufacturing processes to increase quality and output metrics
Coordinate with Cook stakeholders to complete and transfer projects
Establish team priorities base on global manufacturing site needs with New Product Introduction team (NPI) engagement
Ensure that adequate resources are available to support team initiatives and are coordinated within Advance Manufacturing and with global stakeholders.
Ensure the team understands future markets and assist in development of technology road maps to support Cook needs
Develop and manage assigned processes (e:g., Return on Investment (ROI), request for quotation, standardization, transfer to NPI etc.)
Establish metrics for systems to ensure team productivity
Create project proposals encompassing product life cycle, ROI and time management
Effectively communicate metrics to executive management
Ensure team operates within budget and proposed timelines
Provide leadership to establish and maintain robust work environment
Mentor and develop team members appropriate to their work
Ensure that an orderly, sanitary, and safe working environment is maintained
Implement policies, programs and directives of senior management
Interview, select, and manage performance of employee
Make recommendations for staff and equipment and have input into personnel matters
Foster and maintain a orkplace culture respectful and supprtive of individual differences
Must work and interact effectively and professionally with and for others throughout various levels of the global organization
Must strictly adhere to safety requirements

Bachelors Degree in Engineering or Relevant Science
Minimum 7 years of experience in the medical device field
Minimum 7 years research and development, product, and/or project management experience
Broad knowledge and understanding of advanced methods of manufacturing and automation, medical science, regulatory affairs, and risk management
Sound administrative skills and well-developed management skills
Ability to travel and interact with R&D teams, NPI, and business partners
Physical Requirements:
Majority of work is performed in a normal office environment
- Works under general office environmental conditions.
- Sitting for extended periods, utilizes close visual acuity for working with computers,equipment, etc.
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, and communicate.
- Occasionally lifting with minimal exertion during shift.
- Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, subject to reasonable accommodation requirements under the ADA.
