    We are looking for a talented Cloud Ops Engineer Lead and developer to join our Hosting Services team as the CloudOps Team Lead on an IT operations project supporting DHS. The candidate will provide large enterprise applications and tools development support. Candidate will be responsible for design, engineering, developing, testing, and deploying applications and tools in virtualized environments that host web servers, database servers, domain controllers etc., on premise and in the cloud.

    This position works under the general guidance of the Hosting Services Task Lead in an Agile, DevSecOps fast-paced, dynamic collaborative environment, and requires strong troubleshooting and analytical skills, strong critical thinking, complex problem solving, appropriate judgment, and decision-making skills. This role requires an experienced forward leaning practitioner and leader that is able to find solutions to problems, bring new ideas forward and fail early when new ideas don't provide appropriate value to the team.

    HOW YOU WILL MAKE AN IMPACT

    • As the CloudOps Team tech lead, possess the ability to work independently, take initiative and be a strategic thinker for optimizing and improving the automation and repeatable processes of Cloud Operations within an Agile framework.
    • Collaborate closely with the CloudOps Scrum Master throughout all Agile ceremonies, ensuring team coordination and cohesion and alignment with Federal business goals and initiatives.
    • Develop roadmaps and task assignments for the Ops Scrum Team, fostering clarity and direction in initiative execution and completion.
    • Own the review process for all deliverables and Sprint items completed during the Sprint timebox. Ensure work items adhere to quality, requirements, and promised project timelines.
    • Partner with the Scrum Master to facilitate Sprint planning sessions and refine backlog items, contributing valuable insights and relaying Government direction to the CloudOps team members.
    • Foster a collaborative and supportive environment within the CloudOps team, providing mentorship and guidance to team members to enhance skill development and productivity.
    • Identify and apply reliability, scalability, and efficient operation of Java, Ruby, NodeJS, and other open-source technology tools and COTS products within multiple cloud environments, to include Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud Platform (GCP).
    • Understand CI/CD and build pipeline dependencies to include tools such as Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, Chef, Ansible, Foreman/RHEL Satellite, container scanning and other pipeline security tools such as Nessus, , and Prisma Cloud (Twistlock).
    • Perform Cloud infrastructure creations using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) scripting such as Python, Ansible, AWS CloudFormation, and Terraform. Ensure all work is housed and stored in an online repository such as GitHub, GitLab.
    • Perform Key Performance Indicator (KPI) analysis on the existing infrastructure, including optimization and cost recommendations. Apply necessary optimization and recommendations to the cloud infrastructure and platforms, including alerting and notification channels in our common messaging applications contained within the Microsoft Office 365 suite.
    • Collaborate independently with the Cloud Architecture and Engineering team to ensure the continuity of information and knowledge to provide support of new technologies and initiatives.
    • Troubleshoot Tier-2 and Tier-3 issues with Java, npm, Ruby, NodeJS, and other open-source technology custom coded applications and COTS products such as Jenkins, Nexus, SonarQube, Spring Boot, etc.
    • Compile and provide Root Cause Analysis (RCA) reports as required for incidents and derive technical debt to address and prevent future issues continuously.
    • Ensure 5 '9s' or better of reliability for all the critical production services.
    • Develop and update Knowledge Base (KB) articles to ensure that customers of the system have a pathway through the Service Desk for resolving issues and requests and decrease the number of questions and inquiries from the user base.
    • Work with the ServiceNow team to create and update necessary workflows and manage Operations ServiceNow queues for a streamlined and prompt response for addressing issues with various Java, npm, NodeJS, Ruby and other open-source tools.
    • Become the Operations Subject Matter Expert (SME) for the opensource Java, npm, NodeJS, Ruby and other COTS products across the USCIS enterprise.
    • Continuously patch and address Zero-Day Vulnerabilities through automation.
    • Support and develop deployment packages in PowerShell.
    • Address and apply Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to all new and existing environments.
    • Establish a working relationship with the Information System Security Officer (ISSO) team to ensure that Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), and the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) best practices are being followed with the systems within the boundary.

    WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO SUCCEED:

    • 5-8 years of analysis related to design, development, and integration of hardware and software to support large scale Windows and Unix environments with virtualization, on-premises, and Cloud environments.
    • 5-8 years of experience in implementation of DevOps solutions and tools (Cloudbees, Chef, Ansible Tower, Jenkins, Git, Sonatype, Pivotal Cloud Foundry, RedHat OpenShift Container Platform, Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Apigee, Foreman, SCCM, Twistlock, Python, Terraform / Cloud Formation Templates, JSON/YAML, AWS Lambda (serverless computing)).
    • 5-8 years' experience performing a variety of application development, integrating, engineering and operational related assignments.
    • 5-8 years of experience in managing and developing out-of-the-box solutions for IT infrastructure tools (e.g., integrating operation dashboards of ServiceNow, SolarWinds). Knowledge of APIs and their integration using Java Script & other Scripting, Python, REST APIs, Tableau, Elastic stack).
    • Experience in VMware, ServiceNow, Kubernetes, Jenkins, Git., AWS, Azure cloud environments, and DevSecOps automation associated in Windows Physical and virtualization software environments such as VMware's vSphere and Microsoft Hyper-V on a set of enterprise-level IT systems.
    • Experience and knowledge of Ansible, and Middleware (Oracle Application Server, IIS, Apache).
    • Experience and knowledge of Infrastructure as Code and Cloud Operations based monitoring solutions.
    • Experience and knowledge of AI and Machine Learning based Operations for predictive analysis, automated incident detection and response, root cause analysis, and self-healing and orchestration.
    • Some experience and familiarity with Configuration and Change management practices in Agile and standard infrastructure and software development environments.
    • Experience in AWS, AZURE, Google Cloud Services, and other Cloud environments.
    • Experience leading both direct and indirect team members.
    • Experience and knowledge of Agile, DevSecOps practices, and ITIL processes.
    • Understand Federal Public Key Infrastructure (PKI).
    • Experience with any DHS agencies or entities

    The likely salary range for this position is $116,979 - $155,250. This is not, however, a guarantee of compensation or salary. Rather, salary will be set based on experience, geographic location and possibly contractual requirements and could fall outside of this range.
