    Summary

    Air and Marine Operations offers an exceptional opportunity for those with Merchant Mariner Credentials to work in law enforcement with an elite team of professionals protecting America's borders while facilitating lawful international travel and trade.

    Responsibilities

    As a Marine Interdiction Agent, you will perform marine-based law enforcement operations to detect, prevent, interdict, and apprehend terrorists, terrorist weapons, and contraband entering or attacking the United States. Your duties may include:

    • Monitoring suspect persons, vehicles, or vessels engaged in illegal activities.
    • Interpreting radar data to calculate intercepts and track vessels to successful interdictions.
    • Searching persons, vessels, baggage, and cargo for contraband or weapons incidental to detention or arrest.
    • Collecting, refining, and analyzing strategic and tactical intelligence.

    Requirements

    To be eligible for this position, you must have a qualifying Merchant Mariner Credential and meet one of the following requirements:

    • One year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level performing duties such as controlling/commanding law enforcement scenes, conducting investigative inquiries, utilizing electronic surveillance equipment, writing comprehensive reports, and applying arrest authorities.
    • A Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.M.
    • A combination of post-bachelors' education and experience.

    You must also submit a valid, legible copy of your Merchant Mariner Credential at time of application.

    Additional Requirements

    As a Marine Interdiction Agent, you must be a U.S. citizen, have had primary U.S. residency for at least three of the last five years, and meet the age requirement of being referred for selection before reaching 40th birthday. You may also be required to complete training and undergo background checks.
