Job description
We're looking for an HR Intern who is eager to gain hands-on experience in Human Resources while supporting a fast-paced, growing company in the energy sector. This internship is HR-focused, with opportunities to work on performance management, compliance, onboarding, and policy updates, while also providing light recruiting support during peak hiring seasons. You'll gain practical exposure to core HR functions and learn how to navigate day-to-day HR operations in a dynamic business environment.
What You'll Do:
- Assist with the implementation of RMS Energy's performance management program, including new-hire check-ins, evaluations, and goal tracking
- Provide administrative support for performance management tasks such as data entry, reporting, and reminders
- Review and update the employee handbook, drafting and formatting content for clarity and accessibility
- Conduct compliance research to ensure HR policies align with federal, state, and local laws
- Support daily HR operations by organizing files, updating databases, and responding to employee inquiries
- Aid recruiting efforts by sourcing candidates, screening resumes, performing outreach, and scheduling interviews
- Help collect role details and format job descriptions in the Applicant Tracking System (ATS)
- Support onboarding coordination tasks and assist with employee orientation as assigned
- Contribute to HR projects and initiatives to improve processes and support the team
- Demonstrated professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information
- Comfortable working with documents, spreadsheets, and standard operating procedures
- Basic research skills with the ability to summarize policies and regulations in plain language
- Customer-service mindset with a helpful, solution-oriented approach
- Eagerness to learn core HR functions such as compliance, onboarding, and performance management
- Reliable internet access and ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid setting
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
- Currently pursuing a degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field at an accredited institution
- Must pass a background check and pre-employment/random drug tests
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Ability to work in an office setting and travel occasionally if needed
- Physically able to sit, stand, and perform light office tasks with occasional lifting up to 20 lbs
- Prior internship or administrative experience in HR or recruiting
- Familiarity with ATS platforms or HR systems
- Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel)
