    General Summary:

    World renown, orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Richard A. Berger is seeking an outgoing, qualified, detail-oriented team player registered nurse to join our excellent staff. In this position, you will play a key role in providing care to patients by health promotion, health maintenance and direct patient care in the practice, while showing team unity. Often you will be collaborating with the patient and the family to address their options, problems, fears, and concerns for an upcoming elective surgery. Conduction of clinical research along with orthopedic discharge duties will be required.     Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Manages pre- and postoperative patients, including pre and postoperative education for patients and their families.
    • Evaluates patients in the office setting.
    • Prepares patients for, assists with or completes examinations, treatments, injections, dressing changes.
    • Collaborates with nurses on clinical units regarding day-to-day patient care.
    • Follows through on physician orders for tests, examinations, prescriptions, surgical scheduling. Verify tests ordered have been completed. Advise physician and/or patient on test results.
    • Maintains continuity of care among physical therapy, internal medicine, occupational therapy, home health care, etc.
    • Collaborates with and provides clinical support to administrative staff in the triage of patient telephone calls.
    • Participates in education of nursing students in the clinical setting.
    • Enrolls subjects in research studies. Provides informed consent. Collects, organizes and analyzes research data.
    • Provides appropriate documentation on all patient interventions, tests, communications, etc.
    • Ability to adapt and maintain flexibility in completing tasks in an ever-changing workplace.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

    • R.N., Bachelors degree in nursing or Masters Degree in Nursing. Must have a current registered nursing license in the State of Illinois.
    • Excellent communication skills. Prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Required to think and act independently, as well as to plan and problem solve with a team. Follow projects through to completion.
    • Will be required to travel to other facility locations/ surgical centers that surgeon operates at.
    • Work with all staff of facility, patients, as well as outside vendors. Reports to and receive direction from facility manager and physician.
    • Confidently make educated decisions to have prompt action and studied attention to patient care.
    • Understands and possesses a willingness to work hard including but not limited to promptness and responsibility for one's behavior and actions.
    • Maintain and sense of honesty and integrity as patient relationships are built on trust.
