    SPECIAL EDUCATION DEPARTMENT

    SCHOOL YEAR

    POSITION:
    Behavior Paraprofessional - Beacon Day Treatment


    Positions:

    • 4 positions

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • High School Diploma
    • Must meet physical requirements
    • Must meet general qualifications of a paraprofessional
    • Must function as part of a multi-disciplinary team in meeting physical and emotional needs of special education children in a highly structured setting.
    • Familiarity with evidence based and best practices working with students with EI
    • Extensive experience implementing behavior intervention plans and emergency intervention plans
    • Extensive experience using CPI de-escalation and restrictive procedure techniques
    • Ability to communicate effectively and efficiently
    • Experience working with students with EI, preferably in a center program
    • Excellent communication skills
    • Experience with data collection
    • Ability to analyze data, under guidance of the behavior specialist
    • Familiarity with Google Platform
    • Maintain a high level of ethical behavior and confidentiality
    • Must fulfill "Highly Qualified" Federal requirements, and all State and Federal standards (passed ETS Parapro Assessment and /or Associate's Degree)
    • Excellent attendance and punctuality necessary
    • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education and/or Superintendent may find appropriate and acceptable

    DUTIES:
    DUTIES AND QUALIFICATIONS ARE SUBJECT TO REVIEW AND CHANGE


    • Work closely with the behavior specialist and center program staff to respond to crisis situations
    • Ability to work collaboratively as a team to respond quickly in the event of a crisis
    • Ability to provide positive behavior supports to students with and without behavior intervention plans
    • Work with classroom teams to reinforce positive behavior expectations
    • Attend team/parent meetings, as directed
    • Other duties as assigned

    RESPONSIBLE TO:
    Executive Director of Special Education, Special Education Supervisor, and Building Administration

    SALARY:
    According to AFSCME, Local 849 Master Agreement
